Went to this location last week. Im familiar with the way they handle bills-a card is on file and then they charge you at the end. We were giving the option to split the tab but we didnt want to inconvenience our server. Our food was awful we didnt even eat half of it. Still not bothered. Two days later I get an alert from my bank and theyve charged me more than what I shouldve been charged. I immediately call the restaurant. The first manager who claimed to be in training took my information and said the other manager would call back. The other manager called back with some bs story about being charged for extra drinks and was very unapologetic and nonchalant about it. Im not buying it. Somebody got slick and tried to charge me extra money not thinking Id catch it. Im still waiting on him to email me and issue the refund. Guess what happens a day later my card is used at two different stores online. Somebody here stole my credit card information and made two fraudulent purchases for $400. I know its someone here because the restaurant is the only place that had my card information in the timeframe. This is no coincidence. I have concrete proof of that.

      Dear BBB,

Thank you for bringing this complaint to our attention. We were contacted by this guest who let us know that she was overcharged on her check from her visit. After investigating, we identified that the guest was charged for a 1 drink by mistake. We have refunded the amount of the drink to the guest. Please see attached refund. The guest has not contacted ** directly about the charge to her account at a different business.

We found out about the charge at a different establishment through a review she entered on YELP. We sent a direct message to her on YELP, apologizing again for her experience with the over-charge and assuring her she would see the refund shortly. I also, expressed concern about the charge at a different business, and let her know that we would cooperate with the authorities in their investigation of how her card was compromised. We are very interested in her finding out how her card was compromised.

When we attach the guests Credit card to the "pour pass", it's done electronically. The staff can not see the guests credit card number. It is extremely unlikely that her card was compromised here; however, I quite understand based on the overcharge, why she would deduce that it happened here. We are hopeful that whoever is investigating the charge she experienced at the other concept, is successful at finding the culprit. We again, will cooperate fully.

      Sincerely,

      *****************************

On February 4, 2023, I had lunch and drinks at Tapville in Naperville. While I was there, I consumed three things: a chicken sandwich for $16 and substituted the side for the ******** which was a $2 upcharge. I ordered a ********* Flight for $19 and a Tequila drink for $14. My subtotal for my visit there should have been $51 before tax. When leaving, I put my Tapville card in the 0% tip jar because I gave the gentleman at the bar a cash tip. When I looked on my credit card statement, I saw that my card was charged over $150 and knew there must have been a mistake. I reached out to Tapville about this issue and never heard back. I also reached out to my bank to dispute this charge but because Tapville does not give you a receipt for your visit to see how they itemized your bill, I was not successful with my bank. I would like a credit to my account for the difference since Tapville wrongfully charged me 3x the amount for what I consumed.

      Dear *******,
My name is *****************************. I am the new General Manager for Tapville Social in Naperville. I have literally been the ** for a little over two weeks now. It sounds like you may have been overcharged for your visit on Saturday February 4th at this location. Below is a copy of the statement that was on the "pour pass" that you turned in to the "0%" box that day. My understanding is that you had a Chicken Sandwich w/ Brussel Sprouts, a Margherita Flight, and a Tequila Cocktail w/ Casamigos Anejo. Those items added up to $55. The tax would be $5.23, for a total bill of $60.23.
Not having been with the company when you dined here, I can only guess that you might have dined with others at the bar, and that for some reason, the bartender, *****, may have thought that some of the items your friends ordered, were to be on your tab. Based on your statements it appears that is not the case. I hope and believe it was an honest mistake. I apologize that you did not receive a resolution from my predecessor. However, I am here now, and want to make sure you are taken care of. The refund you are owed is $89.79.
I left you a voicemail from my cell phone. Please call me when you have time. I will need the credit card number you used to process the refund. I do not want to get it from you in an email or text for security reasons. I hope you will give me the opportunity to correct this for you.
      Sincerely,
      *****************************

I invested in Tapville via StartEngine about 2 years ago. The initial minimum deposit was $200 for 200+shares. I never received any ROI for that investment. Then I as that they started another campaign for shares that were about 5x as much as I invested in. I have had contact with both StartEngine and Tapville but have not been given a clear reason as to why my investment hasnt returned anything. I may not know how crowdsourcing works but I would think that if you invest in something, you should gain/lose something with your investment. Please advise.
