I hired ************************* of Northshore Handyman LLC, on June 28, 2023 to perform a whole home remodel. An addendum was added to the contract for electrical work. The problems are too many to explain thoroughly, however, I will list some of them ****** was paid $19,000 for electrical work to be done by a licensed electrician and to bring it to code. He hired 2 people to do the electrical and neither were licensed. *********************** and a ***** migrant who does not have a work **** and is also not a licensed electrician. The work was not completed, and the house is currently having problems with some lights flickering and some lighting was wired improperly.****** was paid to purchase a shower door, that he admitted to purchasing, but refused to give to us.****** was supposed to properly seal a crack in the foundation ten drywall that wall. His workers told us that he only covered it with some cement. We opened the wall and will not have to fix the crack properly and drywall the wall again. ****** tiled the bathroom floor before the plumbing was ready which caused an extra expense of having to break up the tiles and replace them. ****** built the door opening in the laundry room to be too small where there cannot be a door, purchased the wrong doors for the closets, and installed a front door in foam where it can easily be pushed in. ****** installed the wrong tiles for the floor of the upstairs bathroom ****** refused to come to work and was issued a demand letter with options to return to work, buy out the contract or risk a lawsuit. He agreed to come back to work but never did. He abandoned the project, so he trespassed leaving the home 60% completed. We are requesting that ***************************** show proof that his electricians are licensed, that he return $12,160 for all products and services that were not completed or done improperly.

Hello to whom it may concern these allegations are far fetched and exaggerated beyond belief as it stands. My electrician is very much a licensed electrician and is ready for when she is to testify on my behalf when she proceeds to *** as well as my attorney. The crack in the foundation was fixed along with other stress marks and when relieved of my duties on this project all electrical was fine and up to code and the foundation was fine and intact with no leaking is***s. The doors were properly measured for each room and waiting for the main contractor ************************* and ******* Botique to finish painting. She claims that the bathroom was done prior to the plumbing being completed but she fails to realize that she was on speaker phone multiple times when I asked her about the plumbing in the bathroom before we tiled it, it is just an is*** for her because she cant find a tub to fit the area where the existing drain in the floor was and her failure to adjust and fix the plumbing in that bathroom even after being told about it multiple times by myself from the inspection of licensed and bonded plumber that I work with she went along with her husband and his friend who were the ones to do all the plumbing in the home. Her silly nonsense about a demand letter didnt even meet the correct requirements of a demand letter nor did I agree to any of the nonsense. She also fails to mention that she breached the contract within the first month of the project. She also fails to mention that she was hired as the contractor and my company, her husbands company and the landscaping company were all subcontractors for this project. If she intends to *** me and my attorney are prepared and are going to ask for the remaining balance of $18,000 plus attorney fees as well as grievance pay for the trouble she has brought to me, my family and the reputation of my company. The total compensation in the end will total over $50000.00

      Thank you

      Customer response

      Complaint: 21057346

I am rejecting this response because **************** did not provide proof of any of his claims. **************** claims that the electrical was up to code so if he wishes to provide that inspection report then we will be satisfied. I know this is not possible because *********************** was  is not a licensed electrician with the *************** or **********. If licensed, he would be required to register with the BBB and ****************** nor his business, Champion Handyman are registered. The easiest way to prove that he is, would be to provide us with an ECC number for ****************** that was valid on the date of services. Additionally ****************** was not qualified to to handle the complex electrical is***s in this home. He literally quit before the job was complete. We will subpoena ****************** in our lawsuit, but he will not be able to testify with any value for **************** since he did not complete the actual work and was not permitted to work in Park Ridge.

The second electrical contractor that **************** hired to bring the home to code did not have a work **** for the US, which means he cannot be licensed. We found this out after his workers trespassed on to the property and wrote their number on the wall. (attached) **************** did not pay them, so they tried to get us to pay. We met with them on the property with the owner on the phone. They told us that they could not *** **************** for nonpayment because no one, including the electrician we legal to work. We will subpoena them to testify as well.

We only found out about the crack in the foundation not being done correctly because of these workers. They told us that he did not seal it properly. We opened the wall to find that he smeared a thin layer of concrete over it versus properly filling the crack. It did not leak at that time because it was in July and August when there is hardly any rain. If *************, it will leak into the basement.

**************** claims that the doors were properly measured and waiting for us to paint. I cannot paint doors that need to be returned to the store. He purchased pocket door slabs with no frames. Unless he got his handyman education at the *************** of carpentry, he should know that doors do not levitate, they need hinges. I attached a photo of the door with no hinges or no handle hole. These are pocket doors and should be prehung on their frames. The closet doors were measured wrong and modified, instead of returning for the correct size. Photo attached.

We had conversations about the bathroom valve for the wall so that he can finish the walls. This had nothing to do with the floor. We had a tub at the property already and **************** did not get authorization that the plumbers were done with their work prior to tiling. All the plumbing work has been done at a standard that we expect from professional with no is***s, so I dont understand the context about hiring his guys instead. The valve was not a plumber is***s, it was an availability is***.

**************** did not address the stolen shower door and the door opening for the laundry room in his response.

There was not a breach of contract at any point on my end.**************** was paid on time and, in some cases, in advance. **************** breached his duties by misrepresenting his abilities, hiring unqualified workers, not showing up to do the work, and lying about being insured, which was a requirement. We absolutely intend to *** once we have all the actual costs in a few weeks and I look forward to his countersuit. .

We remain steadfast in our claims. We are limited to attaching (5) files, so I have attached ones that will show that **************** is not being forthcoming in his response. We are still requesting that **************** show proof that his electricians were licensed, that he returns the $12,160 for all the products and services that were not completed or done improperly, plus an additional $3000 for the cost of the electrical thus far.

      Sincerely,

      *************************
