I published a book called The Sneaky Rainbow to help children deal with the loss of a loved one and was working with a new artist to make the book more inclusive. In Feb. 2023 I connected with JoFactor (************************* and ***********************) who said they wanted to publish my book and would work with the artist I was currently collaborating with. In May 2022 I paid JoFactor Entertainment $2,400 which was supposed to go directly to the artist. The artist didn't hear from JoFactor for weeks and moved forward with another project. JoFactor Entertainment assured me they had numerous artist that I could choose from to move the project forward. For weeks we went back and forth and I would have conference calls with ***********************. Nothing would move forward with these calls and it was as if she never read my book. JoFactor said they were unresponsive because they were busy finishing publishing 3 books other and mine would be next. No news of any new publishing was or is on their website. In November I requested my $2,400.00 back as nothing had progressed and I had a family situation that I needed the money for. I wrote a few emails and finally called ** on the phone. She stated she does not need to give me my money back and when I asked her to give me an example of what work she had done, she said "I don't need to explain myself to you." To date, I have not received any money and no work has been done to publish my book. There is no indication that any of the books they were working on had been published and I believe my funds were given to ** and she spent them on her vast summer travels which were posted on social media. Nothing was done on behalf of JoFactor to pursue my book and no money was spent on their part. I was taken advantage of and am trying to build my own business. This has been very hurtful and discouraging but I am hopeful the BBB can help me resolve this with JoFactor and help prevent other authors from being taken advantage of by JoFactor Entertainment.
