1/8/2024 we adopted ****( Previously known as *****). It was stated in his profile that he was potty trained, good with cats & about 3 years old. 1/9/2024 $400 payment was sent to dog is my ******* rescue for **** adoption fee By day 3 of having **** and him adjusting it was clear that he was not potty trained and if he was crated he would p*** in his crate and roll in it. He was also exhibiting lots of puppy behavior- that of a 1 year old dog. The rescue was contacted and made aware of him not being potty trained and that he was not seeming to be 3 years old. They said that they would help with training him- they did not. By week 3 our cats had stopped hiding from **** and he began attacking my two cats. So it was becoming clear that he was also not good with cats in addition to the other issues. I reached out to the rescue again and told them its not working out that I cant have a dog attacking my cats- this was a deal breaker for me. However to not have him bounce around we agreed verbally to keep him until they found him another home/******. By the end of March we began potty training my son and **** was going after his private parts and drinking my sons pee. I informed them I cant keep him anymore. They said give them 2 weeks. I agreed. **** shredded my couch on 3/31/24 and I told them I cant keep him. They said give them until the end of the week. On 4/4/24 they told me they cant find a ****** for **** and to just take him to the humane society if I dont want him. The contract I signed when I adopted him states that I legally can not bring him to any other rescue besides theirs. And that after giving them 2 weeks they must take him back. They are refusing to take him back, give my money back and are threatinh to fine me $1500 for not taking care of him. They have also lied and done this to other people. I can provide info on them as well if needed.

Hello, we are a rescue and rehab, Illinois 501c(3)tax exempt charitable organization all breed rescue that is Licensed & ****** based. Our animals are not a product we sell, we rehome unwanted and abandoned animals to forever homes, fully vetted animals, based on responses from adoption applications clients fill out. Once contract is signed and fee is paid, the fee is nonrefundable. Animals are not goods that you can simply return and receive your money back. Therefore, we have in our contract that fee is not refundable once fee is paid. Dogs come in as is condition.

Dogs are living animals, who think for themselves. They react to changes and need time to adjust to a new environment. Sometimes it takes a long time, more than 3 months, to adjust. That said, improper introduction to the surroundings, a change of schedule, not using proper tools, put into a crate can give a dog too much freedom and can lead to unwanted behaviors that we do not have control over.

*****, was fostered by a family with 4 children, who also had a senior medium size dog and a cat. He did not exhibit any of the unwanted behaviors that ***** is saying when in the care of the ****** family. ****** profile was created with help of ****** ****** family from their observations.  ***** had a chance to meet with the ****** family and discuss anything regarding *****, and she did.
She adopted ***** from an environment where he was thriving.***** fully ignored our suggestions regarding his adjustment, such as crating during the adjustment period, she did not limit Randys freedom, that led to ***** eating crayons and destroying property. We chose ***** based on her application. Per her answers to the questions in the application were key her qualification and adopt ***** removing him from his perfect ****** home. Questions from the application were: How long will she give him to adjust ****** answer: as long as it takes. What would be the reason she would give up ****************** answer:she never surrenders any animals and she would never surrender one. And she would take it upon herself to find him a home.

***** has failed to comply in all aspects of her adoption application and contract.
***** just surrendered ***** to animal control to a kill shelter violating her contract she signed. ***** makes statements and slanders Dog in my shepherd rescue and rehab. Her statements are controversial and do not match. At this point we are not sure what is the truth reported by her or a lie. She has made three public statements (two reviews and BBB review): First online review of ***** on April 4th states ***** is perfect with children, is potty trained, she is not using a crate (that goes against our recommendations for dogs being in adjustment period, which is at least 3 months, and prevents dogs from eating crayons and destroying properly and being alone in a presence with a child that is potty training and having the ability to lick his urine, that is unacceptable, if that is even true). Print screen attached.

***** is not a thing, he is a living and breathing creature, that can act out or not behave as accepted due to many variables, like stress or improper handling.

****** claims have no merit, but are a bit unrealistic if we are applying them to a shelter dog. Dog ownership is a commitment for 10plus years, lots of work and determination.

She is blaming us with everything that went wrong with her adoption. We provided ***** with all possible information we had about the dog at that time. We were fully transparent about all medical records, his behavior, his known history from the prior shelter, his schedule, his habits and his behavior in his ****** home. There is nothing else we could have done to make it any simpler for her.
I do not understand that ***** claims ***** is such a wonderful dog on her platform April 4th, why she writes a totally different story to you at the BBB. While somewhere in between of April 4th and her BBB review, she wrote another post (April 5th print screen attached),slandering my rescue for not wanting to take the dog back, and how it was unacceptable for us suggesting (she misunderstood) that if she cannot hold onto ***** until adopted, that we guess we cannot stop her to put him to humane society (this was not an instruction to take him anywhere, it was a rhetorical statement from frustration based on her reactions). She later used that against us as slender. And she is stating in her post that we are a horrible rescue that she will never put ***** to a shelter. Yet she put him straight to a kill shelter.

I do not understand why she adopted ***** when she did not have time, determination, patience and responsibility for her actions. Working with him, take him to a trainer and giving him life she promised and committed to in the adoption contract. Her statements are contradictory to the point that we do not know what is the truth and what is a lie. She does not hesitate to make up statements to her liking and making her look good on social media. She even had her husband police officer from ************ to intimidate me that if I do not do what they want me to do, I will be criminally charged or else.

We can provide all screenshots as necessary as they are too many to send at this time. We would like you to review her adoption application and adoption contract with screenshots mentioned basing the review on. If you need anything more, we can provide it upon request.

On 4/2 I reached out to ******************************* regarding adopting a kitten. She told me the kitten I wanted had been adopted, but the sibling that's all black was available. I told her I was interested in adopting that kitten and the other kitten posted on adoptapet.com. I asked her to send me a pic of the black kitten, filled out the application and contract, zelled her $300. We scheduled the pick up for 4/3 at 6pm. She said she would send me a pic but never did. I asked for a pic again once we confirmed the pick up time. She agreed to send one, but never did. On 4/3 at 4:30pm she told me she had an emergency and needed to reschedule my pick up to another day. Then things began to sound sketchy. I told her I could come Friday or Saturday. She initially said she could do 6pm on Friday in *********, but once I told her I could only meet during the day she said we could meet Friday at ********* in ******* (*********** and *****) during her lunch break or I would have to come to ******* on Saturday. These locations are nowhere near each other. ********* is about 45 mins from *********, and ********* is about 1 1/2 hours from *******. Where and when we could meet changed too many times and I still have not received a pic of the cat. I requested a refund and she accused me of being sketchy. When I called to talk to her she was not receptive to my concerns, gave excuses about why I hadn't received the pic, yelled at me saying she had other applications for the cat that I blocked, and hung up on me.

Attached is the zelle payment, some of our email correspondence, and posting for one of the kittens. The system would not let me add more attachments.

I am rejecting this response because:

********* has not attempted to resolve the issue. She did not follow through with completing the adoption of the 2 kittens. She canceled at the last minute the day we were scheduled to meet then kept switching locations when I attempted to reschedule. ****** is not halfway between ********* and ********, and we never agreed to meet in ******. We did in fact speak by phone on 4/3. The screenshot of that call is attached. She agreed to giving me a refund once the kittens were adopted. That is also attached. Along with the posting on adoptapet.com showing ***** has been adopted. I reached out to ********* on 4/13 to resolve things, but she was unwilling. She sent me pics of random kittens, not the kitten I paid for, and finally sent me a pic of a black kitten. She has been dishonest and confrontational. At this point I just want my $300 refunded.

      Sincerely,

      ***********************

******* had multiple chances to pick up her cats and she agreed to do so! Cats did not get adopted to someone else because the situation  has not been resolved with *******. Cats have been in boarding since Saturday April 6th for 20 days now for $15 a day and I will have to cover that $600. We took the listing of the cats of our platform as adopted, since ******* is the adopter. The cats had to be put to boarding as we are a ****** based facility only.
I am attaching a bill from the clinic and also all screenshots. At this point ******* has 2 options: pick up the cats from Delta animal hospital and cover the bill for the boarding if picked up today or additional charges if not picked up today. Bill for the boarding has to be paid directly to Delta animal hospital.

Second option is: If cats are not picked up by Friday we will cover the boarding but in doing so she is loosing the right to the ownership to the cats.

      Thank you.

      Complaint: 21529197

I am rejecting this response because:

********* has not attempted to resolve the issue.  She denies speaking on the phone, refuses to refund my $300, and is now trying to get me to pay $600 for boarding the 2 kittens. On 4/24, she claimed the kittens had been boarded for 20 days beginning on 4/6.  That's not 20 days, and on 4/13 she told me she brought the kittens to her home.  She told me she would refund my money once the kittens were adopted.  The website shows adopted and that was posted a couple of days after our correspondence regarding her moving forward with adopting the kittens to someone else and giving me a refund.  Screenshots are attached, and in her attachments (#****) she doesn't deny hanging up on me and (#****) she says she took the kittens home.  I'm still seeking my refund and will move forward with submitting complaints to the ********** of *********** and the Attorney General.

      Sincerely,

      ***********************
