I made a visit to St. Elizabeth UrgiCare on 11/24/21 due to a foot injury. When I walked into the facility I specifically asked the intake consultant if this facility is billed as an Urgent Care or an Emergency Room. She assured me it is an Urgent Care. I continued with services which consisted of vitals intake stuff with a nurse practitioner. I never saw a doctor when I was there. She recommended doing an X-Ray on my left foot. I agreed to the X-Ray which she sent off for a radiologist to read. She returned to the room and said they didn’t see anything in the X-ray, made some Care suggestions and sent me on my way. About a month later I receive a bill from the doctor for $298. I am assuming this is the doctor at the “Urgent Care” that I didn’t actually see. I assumed this was the bill for everything. Then 5 months later I receive another bill totally $934 worth of charges (see attached). This bill has the fees for the radiologist and also an E.R. visit fee. Again, I did not go to the emergency room. The emergency room is in a completely separate building across the street. Also, I specifically clarified this with the lady who did my intake paperwork when I came in. I call the billing department and the First Lady I spoke to said “it’s affiliated with the emergency department so that’s how we bill.” I told her I want to file a dispute because I did not go to the emergency room and how can they bill for that when I went to the urgenct care. She agreed to put in a dispute. I called the front desk of the actual place I went to and the receptionist said they just changed their name because of all this confusion and their billing is different now but when I went it was billed as if I went to the emergency room. She told me she could not help with billing and to call billing back. I spoke to another lady in billing who said I was billed as an urgent care but it clearly states E.R. on my bill. Please read ****** reviews. Their billing is fraudulent!

the charges she received show on her statement as Urgent Care/ Emergency because the Urgicare is an extension of the ER.  She was properly billed for the Urgicare facilities.  We billed the insurance, which paid, then they said she was not covered and they asked for their money back.  After refunding them we had to charge the patient.  That is the cause for the delay.  She did get a 72% uninsured discount and that has been paid in full.

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because: they advertise to be an urgent care not an “extension to the ER.”  I specifically asked this before consenting to be treated.  The intake coordinator told me they are separate from the ER and are considered an urgent care.  The bill I received specifically says ER visit not urgent care.  The bill is paid in full not because it’s correct not do I agree  but because my credit is in jeopardy over this dispute.  The facilities ****** reviews are very telling of this exact situation to so many other patients. This facility is fraud.

      Sincerely,
