I am writing this for my parents which were scammed by the company in question. My parents called this roofing company for repairs and at that time they were told they would be required to sign papers in order to get an estimate. Not knowing that it was a contract to scam their insurance company. Only way out of the contract was to pay them 30% of the estimate to get out of the contract. This is an unlawful move to take advantage of seniors. Without any other option they went through with the roof repairs. Since the repairs the roof is leaking in multiple places and the company will not return phone calls. I was able to get through from another phone and was told they wanted more money to repair any leaks. This company should not be allowed to do business period. They also took an additional ******* on top of the ****** they received from the insurance company. This company should honor their work and honor their warranty.Business response

The contract with the customer was above board in all aspects. She signed with our roofing contractor business and a recommended Public Adjuster to represent her in an insurance claim to have the roof potentially replaced due to leaking inside the residence. Upon inspection, State Farm did not approve the roof due to the severity of age and lack of maintenance. Instead, some siding, interior damages, and cosmetic items were approved. The customer was insistent that the roof needed to be replaced first, so we worked with her to transfer the funds provided to have the entire roof replaced given its age and severe damages. The homeowner agreed to this plan.
Upon starting the work, our crew discovered that there were already 3 layers of shingles on the residence, which required a lot more time by our crew to remove all the layers, which we did not charge for. Additionally, due to severe rot and damage to the plywood, we replaced 40 pieces of plywood decking (see attachment). When asked to pay for the additional plywood costs (see invoice), the customer stated she was unable to pay for any of it.
The $1000 paid by the customer is her State Farm deductible, which is the responsibility of every insured.
Since the work has been completed, we have received multiple calls for leaks and continued to show up and investigate the issue. Despite our professional response that the leaking is not related to the roof and specific to the chimney and flashing, which was not a part of the State Farm estimate, she (and now her son) insists that it is due to the roof work.
To settle this, we have left her two voicemails asking her to find a handyman to install flashing near the chimney where the issue is and we would consider covering the cost of the work so that we can continue to keep cordial business relations with the customer. We have not yet heard back from her.
