On August 2, 2023 I called Buss Custom Concrete for an estimate on installing a stamped patio in my yard. On August 4, ***************** collected $4,000 cash and said he would be at my house the following week Thursday or Friday (8/9-10) to start the job. On 8/8 **** called to say he was stuck on another job and would come the following (Aug *****). I called **** on Aug 16 to confirm and he said he would be at my house by the middle of the next week to start the job (8/23). On 8/24 I asked for confirmation of start date again and he said the crew needed a few days off due to extreme heat and he would start my patio as soon as it cooled off. On Aug. 29 I asked again for update. No answer. On Sept, 2 I asked again for an update and he said he would be starting Weds or Thursday ( Sept 6-7). On Sept 6. I texted to confirm the Sept. 7 was the day and he said he would absolutely do the job and would start "very very very" soon. I was out of town a few weeks and checked back in on Sept. 28. On Oct 1 he again said he would be there week of Oct 9 to start. On Oct 9 and 12 I asked for confirmation again and he said he would call me to explain delay, He did not call. On Oct 28 I was worried about weather and offered to delay job till spring. He said that would be best and would meet to return my deposit. On Nov. 1 and 2 I asked him to ***** the deposit back. He did not return the money nor has he responded to multiple calls, voice mail messages, or texts sent on Nov. 12, 14 or 27 giving him till Dec. 4th to return the deposit else I would file complaints with BBB and IL Atty **** I am a disabled senior on fixed income and need this money returned to me asap,. Buss Custom Concrete began concrete stairs and a walkway for me on Dec 1, 2021. I paid the owner, *****************, $4100 with a check indicating PIF. ************ was very friendly when he provided the initial estimate but has been unresponsive as outlined below and in the attached full complaint and text messages in regards to fully completing the job.On Sun Dec 5, 2021 I had railings installed for the new stairs because ************ stated that the concrete would be dry enough to install them. The bottom step cracked and I texted and called ************ that same day to inform him. He stated that he would come out that same week to repair it. I texted him on Thurs Dec 9, 2021 of that week to ask if he was still coming out to fix the crack and he replied that it looked like we might get rain the next two days so he would do it the next week. I asked what day he would come out the next week and he texted, Im starting a job with another company that I havent worked for yet so Im not sure how Monday and Tuesday are going to go. Ill definitely get it taken care of though. I did not hear from ************ that next week so I texted him on Thurs Dec 16, 2021 asking if he was still coming out and received no response. I paid another contractor $300 on Dec 19, 2021 to fix the crack in the step. I informed ************ of this on Dec 20th and he said he would come check the work that evening but never came by. I contacted ************ again on Apr 21, 2022 to request that he follow up on completing the sealing of the stairs he promised to complete on Dec 1, 2021 by text and the skim coating before the winter's end he promised by text on Dec 3, 2021. He replied that he would come out the next week to fix everything but did not. On Apr 30, 2022, I sent a text asking when he could come out to perform the skim coating and sealing of the steps and walkway and informed him that now there was a long crack in the landing of the front porch. As of today, May 4, 2022, I have not received a response.
