      I want to alert consumers to unethical practices aimed at deceiving customers. The store is training young employees to lie to their clientele. When I asked the salesperson about the return policy, he assured me it was a two-week window, implying a full refund. However, when I attempted to return the item two days later; I was informed I could only receive a store credit. The receipt did not state otherwise and I did see any signage in the store, as well. On my second visit the salesperson directed me to a sign that *** have not been visible.. In addition, why didn't the salesperson or owner direct me to the sign when I inquired about the return policy before my purchase. I have been a resident in ***********, IL for ************************************************************************************************** addition, I am in the process of speaking with our local Chamber of Commerce.

      I am writing from The Human Race regarding case # ********.  We were not notified of this case until we received the letter from you that came via US mail (hard copy) which is why we are answering after the case was closed.  Upon receipt of this letter, we were able to obtain the customer's phone number and email address to contact her to see if we could resolve the issue.  Today (6/19/24) we attempted to call her but her mailbox was full, so we reached out via email to let her know we were able to refund her credit card in the amount of $154.35.  She should receive an email notifying her of our attempt to contact her as well as a receipt for the refunded amount.   Our business was opened in 2002 and has had the same return policy for the past 22 years. It is noted on the receipt that she submitted to you as well as a sign posted at our register, on our website and our ****** listing.  This customer has a purchase history with us from 2004 - 2014 where our return policy was the same.

      The Human Race Sports store provided me with a full refund and I am grateful.

      However, I am displeased with their unethical practices.

      I would like to extend my gratitude to BBB for advocating on my behalf.

      Thank you for reaching out and providing a refund. My faith in humanity has been restored.

      As a resident of *********** for 30 years, I chose to support the Human Race store over big box stores, prioritizing local businesses. 
      However, the service I received and the intent to deceive were very disappointing.
      Acknowledging my concern and conducting business honorably have restored my faith. 
      I will clear my voicemail.
