My only visit with this dentist was on 07/07/2023. Wed spoken 3-4 times beforehand and I showed up 15 minutes early since I hadn't received the new patient paperwork they were supposed to email. When I handed the receptionist the completed paperwork she told me they needed a copy of my last set of full **rays because insurance only covers it every five years-or I had to pay $150.00 out of pocket. I told her that I would be glad to reach out for the **rays on their behalf but wouldn't be paying out of pocket. I also advised that the old DDS has staffing issues so it might take a while and that as health care professionals they should be aware of the fact that even for a fully staffed office, it takes a minimum of 5 days for a records transfer. They'd already told me some nonsense about needing the **rays for "legal reasons" so to save face, they told me they were doing the full set (as opposed to bite wings only) without charging me anything. They also failed to bill insurance for the non-covered service in order to generate a denial, which is unethical. Sofast forward to January 2024. For obvious reasons, I have a new ******* asked them for copies of my full set of **rays but they refused to send me my own protected health information because they didn't charge insurance for it. This is what they texted me: Good Afternoon Dear *****, I have tried to contact you since I missed your call, sorry about that, I wanted to inform you that we are going to return the $52 to your insurance for the bitewings but you will have to pay for the complete set of your x-rays which, respecting the value of your insurance, is $105 since they would not cover that procedure on the day of your visit please call back at ************* thank you. Anyhow, I very eloquently explained that I wouldnt be paying them a ***** but they sent me the records (with no letter, apology or explanation). I'd like to make sure that I'm not billed for these records and never contacted by them again.
