I brought my 2017 Dodge Durango to Uftring Chrysler Dodge Jeep Dealership for routine maintenance, during which I was informed that the head gasket seal might be leaking. The dealership recommended I replace the water pump first, which I agreed to. After replacing the water pump, they informed me that I did need to replace the head gasket seal as initially suspected. After the head gasket seal was replaced, they told me that I also needed a new radiator, adding more unexpected costs. On October 20, 2023, I paid $4,565.20 for the repairs. However, just five days later, on October 25, 2023, my engine light began flashing, and my vehicle suddenly shut down on the highway, placing me in a dangerous situation in front of a semi-truck. I returned the vehicle to the dealership on October 25, 2023, and they had it off and on through November 2023 for various issues, none of which were fully explained to me. I did not receive paperwork or adequate communication regarding the repairs or status of my vehicle during this time. On November 27, 2023, I returned the vehicle again, and the dealership kept it until July 3, 2024. Throughout this extended period, I was patient and continually initiated contact to get updates. The dealership never reached out proactively to provide updates. Finally, on July 2, 2024, I was contacted and told I had two options: pay over $4,000 for additional repairs or come pick up my vehicle and return the loaner car. When I went to pick up my vehicle, I discovered a large crack in the front windshield. The staff at Uftring dismissed it, saying it wasn’t their fault. I request compensation for the negligent service provided, including the $4,565.20 I initially paid for repairs that failed to resolve the issues and for the lack of communication and care over an 8-month period. Additionally, I seek coverage for the windshield damage caused while my vehicle was in their possession.

I am writing to respond to the complaint made recently by ******* *******.  While I empathize with the situation that Ms. ******* was involved in with the dealership, the repair that Ms. ******* would like to have refunded was a necessary repair that fixed the problem that she brought the vehicle in for.  The second complaint of the vehicle shutting down was unrelated to the initial repair.  The dealership did not charge the customer for the repair as a goodwill gesture.  The third repair (transmission failure) referenced resulted in Ms. ******* requesting assistance from Chrysler Customer Care to replace the transmission.  Ms. ******* had a loaner car from Uftring Chrysler for the entire period that we had her car, close to eight months at no charge.  Unfortunately, Chrysler rejected the request for a new transmission which resulted in an estimate of $4,000 to replace the transmission.

The windshield crack that Ms. ******* requested we pay for was caused by a hail storm in North Pekin while her vehicle was on our lot.  These claims are covered by the insurance policy that the customer has on the vehicle, the dealership is not responsible for a weather related event that is considered an "Act of God".  If Ms. ******* is not able to get this covered under her own insurance or has any out-of-pocket expenses for the windshield repair the dealership will reconsider the amount in question upon receipt of a bill turned in by Ms. *******.

Unfortunately, the request for refund of $4,565.20 is not due Ms. ******* as that repair was made and resolved the issue.

Please notify me if you have any additional concerns.

      Sincerely,

      **** *******

Took 2012 Ram 1550 in to have lifters, camshaft, oil pump, manifold bolts, and timing set replaced. Took company two weeks to finally finish it. $2500 was payed 11/01/2021 for labor. Upon delivery to my home on 11/01/2021 the vehicle was unable to start. I called and they came to pick it up and take it back. They are saying nothing is wrong with the truck and that it runs fine and are refusing to give me an identical 4x4 truck or anything with 4x4 which I need. Now it’s going to take even more time that I won’t have a vehicle and possibly more money for them to fix it a second time instead of acknowledging they did it wrong the first time. I would like to be compensated for the money and time that I have wasted on absolutely horrible service.

The dealership repaired the vehicle on 11/2/21 and we believe that the customer is satisfied with the repair.

      Thank you,
