    We contracted with this company on April 14, 2021 to complete a patio project that was to help divert water from entering into our home. The total contract was for $10, 532.00. We paid the requested down payment of $2,633.00 and the project was to start in June 2021. As of August 24, 2021 they have done NOTHING. The office staff was very unprofessional in keeping us informed of what was going on. We were constantly given the "run around" and calls were NEVER returned. They did however, wanted to come out in mid July to start digging up our yard but did not have the material to complete the project or an estimated time when they would even receive the material. We refused because once they had started digging up the yard, we had no choice but to wait on them to complete the patio. In August we finally decided not patronize this company and just wanted our $2633.00 back. They had the audacity to tell us that we would only receive $1400.00 of our deposit back after not as much as putting down one brick. How can you think you can keep $1,233.00 after having done NOTHING. So, for anyone wishing to deal with this company, may I suggest you having the following: An attorney, contact the Illinois Attorney General(Kwame R***l) and finally put the deposit on a credit card to have the charge reverse if necessary. Other than that, Good Luck in dealing with Barr Landscaping

    An estimate was provided to client on April 14, 2021. After receiving their deposit on April 20th an inquiry to our materials supplier was made to price and order the specialty block pavers the customer had requested. On May 5th we received the quote and authorized the purchase of their block with an anticipated start of June for the project. We were notified by the supplier that they were unable to obtain the block from the manufacturer due to a national employee shortage. We offered to complete the portions of the work that client had requested that did not include the blocks and come back to complete that portion of the job once we received the materials. Mr. and client did not wish to begin any portion of the work until the materials were received, which is understandable. On July 1st we received an update from the supplier that the materials were still unavailable but an anticipated shipping date around the end of July seemed likely. Once the materials had arrived, Client was notified. Client called the office and advised that might want to revisit the project in Spring but would like a refund of the deposit. After speaking with the supplier, we were informed of a non-negotiable restocking fee of $1,233.00 to return the special-order materials. Client was given three sperate options to resolve this issue: a) allow Barr Landscaping to complete the project b) allow Barr Landscaping to purchase the materials and hold them until a later date and complete the project at that time c) refund the deposit minus a restocking fee. Client did not respond to a voice mail from our owner advising him of how they wished to proceed and as a result the supplier returned the block to the manufacturer on August 25, 2021 and assessed a fee of $1,148.02 to Barr Landscaping. A check for the amount of the deposit minus this fee will be issued to client the first week of September. Although we sympathize with the frustration and disappointment experienced by Client, we have attempted to communicate when new information became available which was admittedly not often. Because we took their concerns very seriously the account had been escalated directly to the owner of the company and he was personally responding to and initiating all communications. As much as we deeply regret our customer’s dissatisfaction and how the situation turned out, there are certain events that despite our best attempts to remedy have simply been outside of our control, and by extension outside the control of the supplier and manufactures. Unfortunately, there are very few industries that have not been affected by recent events impacting the workforce, shipping, and available supplies. We sincerely apologize to Client for their inconvenience.
