I have paid $8000 ($2000 check on July 15/16, and $6000 cash on July 17) for a roof replacement, covered by insurance. Total for job is $12,900. The final insurance check cleared my account today. I tried to give the business a check for the rest ($4900), and he said that $6900 was owed. I went to my bank (PNC) and got a copy of the posted, cleared check for $2000. I can also see where my balance went down by $2000. Business owner threatened to put a lien on my house, and did call the police. When we were all at the bank, he called HIS bank (*******), and over speakerphone, we could hear his banker say that they had cashed the check and put the cash into his account. He still didn't believe them. When the police arrived, they spoke with each of us. I asked one of the officers, before we left, to ask the businessman if he would accept the $4900 check that I was perfectly willing to give him, because that is the balance owed on the job. He refused the check, saying that I owed him $6900. (Business owner was extremely rude and mean. I was visibly upset at the bank, and he said, "Oh, you're sitting there crying and pouting, and you're the one who's not giving me my money.")

I contracted Skyline Remodeling in August 2019 to replace the siding on my home. This work was completed in Fall 2019. However, I have identified 5 locations with the new siding that is flawed, the siding has ripples and is very visible when the sun is shining on these locations. In summer 2022, *** ********** of Skyline Remodeling arranged to have these areas re-sided. This was completed in early July, but the repairs/new siding did not resolve the issue and all 5 locations still have the same rippling as before the repairs. I first contacted *** on July 21, 2022, to report (with pictures) that the siding problem still existed. *** interacted with me until August 1, but has not responded to any of my communications since August 1 and I've made multiple attempts to contact him to resolve my problem. I don't even know if he and Skyline Remodeling are still in business.

I PURCHASED REPLACEMENT SIDING FOR THIS CUSTOMER AND PAID THE INSTALLER TO COMPLETE THE WORK. THIS WAS AN HOUR LONG SERVICE JOB AND I CALLED THE CUSTOMER TWICE WHILE IT WAS OCCURING.  AT THE END OF THE DAY HE SAID HE WAS SATISFIED WITH THE REPAIR AND I PAID THE INSTALLER.

I ACKNOWLEDGE THERE IS A DEFECTIVE PIECE OF SIDING ON THE HOUSE.

      I PAID FOR IT'S REPLACEMENT.

THIS HOMEOWNER HAS SOME ISSUES HE IS NOT BEING HONEST ABOUT.  HE DOES NEED HELP.

I am rejecting this response because: The siding, which is has a lifetime warranty, still has problems. On the afternoon of July 7 repairs were completed on the siding and after I got off work I checked it and did not see the rippling, so I reported that I was satisfied.  However, 2 weeks later (July 21) I saw that the rippling was back in all 5 areas that previously had the problem. I'm unaware of any reason why this happened and why it recurred the second time. I don't know if it's the siding, the 1/4" insulation board, the installation/repair, or a combination. I've lived in this house for over 29 years and we never had this problem with our previous siding. There is no reason we would damage the siding on our own home, we just want the problem resolved. Thank you, *** *****

There were five spots of defective siding.  I purchased the replacement siding from Richards building Supply.  I sent the installer to his home with the product.  I called the homeowner at noon and he said the installer was there working.  I called at seven o'clock at night and he said he is just finishing and he was satisfied with the work that was done.  This was a two hour service call.  I went to the home and discovered the work wasn't done.  The homeowner is not being honest on what's occuring.  This homeowner has issues and needs help.

I am rejecting this response because: The fact remains, I have 5 areas on my house where the siding is rippled, and the contractor was very clear that there was a lifetime warranty. There are multiple defective pieces of siding on my house in 5 areas. I don’t know if this is the siding, the insulation board installed with the siding, the installation, or a combination. I am being honest, and I have no reason not to be honest. I just want the siding to be repaired and not ripple. The contractor is correct, I do need help. The help I need is to fix the problem with the siding that I contracted with him to complete. We have lived in this home for over 29 years and take pride in it. We never had this problem with the original siding that was on the house for over 26 years. I've attached a timeline associated with the original repair and this complaint that the repairs did not fix the problem.

On June 11 I hired **** ********** from skyline remodeling to install a new roof AND two attic vents on my house. When I got home after they "finished" I saw the new roof but none of the two attic vents that we agreed on in the contract were not installed! I called **** to tell him this and his response was to tell me they would be out in a mouth or so.....not a response I like to hear considering THEY DIDNT FINISH THE JOB!

The job was ran on a Sunday and the crew was short on material. I had them scheduled Monday and Tuesday so the job was finished on Wednesday. The crew did a good job. Not all jobs finish in one day.Usually, returning the next day is custom but with it being a weekend issue it took two days to catch up.

On July 30, 2021 we hired Skyline Remodeling to replace our roof and it has leaked ever since. They have repeatedly promised to repair the leak, but no one ever shows up. Weeks later we now have a hole in our ceiling. We want our roof repaired so it no longer leaks, or our money refunded in full so we can hire someone else to redo the work. We have video of the leak and the damage caused by it (the files are too large to attach to this complaint)

The leak has been fixed. I had several visits where it ended up being a chimney cap that was faulty outside of the roofing system. Once this was discovered we removed and repaired the chimney cap so the problem was solved. It did take several trips to discover the actual cause of the leak.
