I have a 2010 model GMC akadia vehicle, my vehicle is broken. I went to the workplace I mentioned 1 month ago to diagnose. And I received my vehicle on 04/10/2023.They just said that my vehicle's engine was faulty and the engine needed to be changed, and they replaced the engine. After I bought the vehicle, I saw that the engine light was on and I went there again and when I connected it to the computer, I saw that the exhaust system of the vehicle, namely the catalytic system, had been removed.I had no such problem with my vehicle. They dismantled it on their own I told the company. I said I want you to change it. Put it back in my original part. Then I showed my car to the appraiser at another workshop. They said they disassembled and sold these parts and welded the straight pipes there. Such a thing is forbidden and this company knows it.I lifted my car on the lift and next to it I asked why you changed these parts. You didn't ask me and I don't know. Why did you do such a thing? they are not answering. And they don't want to replace my original parts. Why are you doing something like this without my knowledge and you know it's a crime. Why are you boiling a straight pipe here if it's a crime? I said I would complain to the company. they say meat to whomever you give. And the names of these parts on the receipt they gave me are not on my invoice in any way. It doesn't even say it's changed. I also have videos of changing them. I learned that the crystals inside these pieces are valuable and they sell it. Since they did such a thing without my knowledge and did illegal illegal work, I request them to put my original parts back. They think people are stupid. And my car is polluting and smelling right now and I don't want to get in my car.And I don't think I have the right to pollute nature for such a crime. Please, I want my problem to be solved as soon as possible and my vehicle to be used as it was in its old days. They charg$2000 forthis vehicle.

      Business response

      05/05/2023

      To whom it may concern,

This letter is in response to complaint ********. Mr. ********* came into our business with a 2010 GMC Acadia with concerns about a misfire. When our technician performed a diagnostic reading, we found that the bank two cylinder had a misfire, further diagnostics showed that the timing chain on bank two was stretched which caused the misfire. When we researched the above listed vehicles engine, we found that it is an interference motor, therefore when the chain became stretched the engine piston made contact with bank twos valves. We also notified him that running your vehicle with a severe misfire could cause significant damage to the catalytic converters. We provided Mr. ********* two repair options being option 1: he could get a rebuilt engine or option 2: get a used engine from a junk yard. He received two quotes for both options and he asked if we could wait a few days so that he could think over the repair options. After a few days he called and said he would like to purchase the engine of his own from a junk yard of his choosing and have our technicians do only the installation. We responded and told him that it was fine for us to only provide and bill him for the labor costs of the repair, he was also notified that any check engine light or faulty components on the used engine were not anything we were liable for seeing as it was purchased used from a third party and we were simply removing and installing. Once the original engine was removed from the vehicle, we called him to ask if he would like to have any components on the used engine to be replaced (i.e., Gaskets, tensioners, belts etc.) he declined and stated that he wanted all the components from the original engine transferred to the used one. Our technicians did try to warn him that if any of his components on the original motor were faulty in any way that the engine itself would become faulty, however he reiterated that he wanted all the original engine’s components transferred to the used engine regardless. When the vehicle was finished being repaired our technician started the vehicle and noticed the alternator system was not charging the battery, so Mr. ********* was contacted, and our technician explained the charging issue to him however he declined to have the alternator replaced stating that there was not an issue with the alternator. Mr. ********* paid for the services we provided and took the vehicle as it was, he returned about two hours later yelling at our technician asking why the battery was not holding a charge and the vehicle would not start without a jump. We reiterated that the alternator was faulty and was not sending charge to the battery because it needed to be replaced, he agreed to have it replaced and the vehicle had no issue starting once the new alternator was installed. The vehicle was taken after the repair and Mr. ********* was happy with the way the vehicle was functioning. Within the next week Mr. ********* returned to our establishment stating that the vehicles check engine light was on. The vehicle received another set of diagnostic tests which showed that the bank two catalytic converter was low efficiency, when the vehicle was lifted to diagnose the exhaust with a thermal scanner it was verified that the bank two catalytic converter was in fact faulty, this test was performed in Mr. ********* presence. We attempted to explain that he needed a new catalytic converter on bank two for the engine light to turn off and for the vehicle to function properly. He was quoted $1000.00 for a new bank two manifold catalytic converter and $300.00 to install making his total $1300.00. Due to the cost of the replacement, he began yelling profanities and saying our technicians did not know how to do their job and that he was going to sue us, even though he was warned before that this may be an issue and still declined even having it diagnosed, he took his vehicle and denied having it repaired by us. We had no contact with Mr. ********* from that point on until now. The pictures provided to you of the diagnostic machine and the man were taken the day we performed the diagnostic tests of his catalytic converter, he was brought back so that we could show him the diagnostic code and thermal test results, however the pipe pictured is of where the rear catalytic converter should have been which was there when we performed the diagnostic for the misfire and is not even the catalytic converter that we were diagnosing, we did diagnostic on the bank two manifold catalytic converter and the pipe pictured is of where the rear catalytic converter should have been. We did not perform any exhaust repairs on his vehicle, only diagnosis. His invoice will be attached with this letter. The $2400.00 total listed in the complaint was for repairs to the 2010 GMC Acadia and a 2010 Mercedes-Benz GLK350 4matic.

      Customer response

      05/15/2023

I am rejecting this response because:

they are absolutely lying, the right part is I just asked them to change my engine and they removed the valuable convector parts in my car's exhaust system and they welded a pipe to the dismantled part and they didn't tell me about it. Then when I got a malfunction, when I said why did you disassemble it, the engine wouldn't start. Well if that's the engine problem, why would you tell me? they had the engine replaced, but I knew that the problem was the engine, we changed it as it should be, I want my parts that were removed without my knowledge to be installed, a crime they did pollutes the nature, now my car is emitting a poisonous smell
