I am submitting this complaint about Diners Club on behalf of my elderly father, who is 92 years old and a card member for over 30 years. He has been trying to cancel his card for over 6 months. He has not used the card in over 6 months and has no balance on the card. When he called them to cancel over the phone, they told him that they had to confirm his identity, which they could not do over the phone. They said that they would email him an identity verification form, which he would have to fill out in the presence of a notary and mail it back to them. My father did not receive the form. He called them back again and was told the same thing. My husband and I stepped in by calling Diners Card general number, **************, on May 18th, 2024, and spoke to a supervisor named ****. He requested that my father call him and agreed to let my husband conference him in to authorize having the form emailed to him, yet again. **** promised to e-mail him the identity verification form on an expedited basis (within 3 days). Again, my father did not receive the form. He checked his SPAM file and it wasn't there either. I called Diners Card again on May 28th, 2024 and requested to have the form sent again and confirmed that they had the correct email address. The customer service rep said they would email the identity verification form and my father has not received it. On June 5th, 2024, we spoke to a supervisor named *****, and explained the entire story. of the last 6 months. I asked ***** to send me a blank identity verification form without any identifying information on it so that I could take it to my father to fill it out and get it notarized with him. She told me she could not help me because I am not the account holder. She told me that I should have my. father call her directly but that she did not have a direct extension. All we want is for my father's Diners Club card to be canceled and not to be charged the annual fee or subsequent interest to be removed.
