      Poor customer service. Difficult to get through phone tree and reach a live person . When you do get ready for a different answer each time along with excuses computer generated letter, heavy volume of death claims, your packet was missing the form x or y or x. Delays to just keep custody of your money I believe. I finally received my payment for my Mothers death benefit 8/23/24. My siblings have not received their payments. Contrast this to our experience with ************- filed the same day, simply submit the death certificate and check received 6/29/2024. Oh incidentally, the agent that just adored our Mother did not even return my call when I attempted to notify him of her demise. He sold her seven policies! Very disappointing service. Our family will not be supporting your business.

      After being a Modern Woodmen of America customer with policies spanning over generations, I am in disbelief as to the way I am being treated. My parents bought me and my siblings, a policy as a youngster, because they had the policies, so I followed tradition and bought them for my children.As a current member, I have been denied more coverage because I am a disabled veteran who has PTSD from my military time 30+ years ago. The VA only recognized it within the past year. I can have a "reconsideration application" in the next calendar year. As if my PTSD will "get better" next calendar year.Modern Woodmen of America claims they are family oriented. Laughable! Disabled veteran, who is a current policyholder DENIIED additional coverage because of PTSD defending families. So, my family is out in the cold, because of my service disabilities. I have to wonder how many other veterans have had the same denial. Newsflash Modern Woodmen of America!!!!!! PTSD doesn't always mean you want to off yourself!!!! It means you are looking for help for managing how you were treated/what you saw in the service.Take your money where veterans are appreciated and respected!!

      34 years of payment and life insurance eats your retirement plan in men's accounts. It's does effect women the same.

      My family and I have had policys and investment with Modern Woodmen for generations! There arent more honest and competent people to work with in my book. There has never been a time that I have needed a question answered that someone wasnt right there for me

      I think your company is a ripoff. I was the insured on my policy,though I signed my mother over when I was sick,I was still the insured,had been for years.AND FOR YOUR COMPANY TO HAVE THE OADSITY TO ALLOW MY GREEDY SISTER LIE AND TELL YOU PROBATE TOLD HER TO CASH IN THE POLICY TO USE FOR BILLS AND NOT EVEN NOTIFYING ME YOU ARE DEFINETLY WRONG FOR THAT.I want my insurance policy back in my possession,i have been trying for years to get it.My mother kept all my important papre=ers with hers and when she died I got everything back but my policy.

      Good luck getting money out. My employer chose this company. Returns are well below market. Modern Woodmen will delay and use any technically to not close accounts.

      Modern Woodmen received our first notification of the consumer wanting to transfer out his funds on 1/5/2022 via telephone call. He stated he had been requesting the transfer to another company for months. Modern Woodmen has yet to receive the proper transfer out paperwork to process this transaction. Modern Woodmen sent the required form on 1/5/2022 at the members request to help expedite the transfer of funds. The member called on 1/21/2022 requesting to proceed with surrender of his account since he was unable to get a transfer form sent to Modern Woodmen from the other company. Modern Woodmen processed this request on 1/24/2022.

      I appreciate Modern Woodmen's response. It bears out my complaints. The "first notification" is after not being able to come to a resolution with the local representative. The reason I was unable to send a transfer form to my brokerage account is because of incorrect and incomplete information from Modern Woodman. After the form was faxed to Modern Woodmen with the corrected information, I was told the form did not have a proper signature and had to fill out yet another form by the variable processing department. I called Modern Woodmen and stated that there was no "proper signature" requirement in the instructions or the email. I was then told it would be "stupid" to use legal means to retrieve my money and was hung up on. I called back and left a voicemail clearly stating that I no longer wanted to work with Modern Woodmen and asked what could I do to help terminate the relationship. I got a call back the next day letting me know that the check would be issued right away and that there was no signature requirement beyond what I had sent.

      I had 2 accounts with them for over 12 years. I decided to transfer my *** to another company back in August of this year. Modern Woodmen has been dragging their feet for the past several months and have still not transferred the funds. With the recent downturn in the stock market I am loosing money. The other account that I had with them was a life insurance policy. Which I wanted to surrender. This took them until 2 weeks ago to process the transfer to the new company. They charged me a surrender fee of over $2,000. Again I had the policy for approximately 12 years.I would not recommend this company to anyone for their services.

      We have confirmed this consumer did have certificates with Modern Woodmen of America and has been a member for over 18 years.While he states he has been working on a transfer of his *** since August, Modern Woodmen was not made aware of that until October 1, 2021, when an individual from the replacing financial group contacted our ************** inquiring how to begin the transfer process. Modern Woodmen staff advised her what was needed and provided the fax number to submit the paperwork. On November 1, 2021, the transfer paperwork was received at Modern Woodmen of America. The consumer had signed these forms on October 27, 2021. To finalize this transfer request, the member must complete an internal form to allow Modern Woodmen to proceed with the transaction. On November 2, 2021, according to standard processing procedures, this required paperwork was mailed to the members address of record. This paperwork has not been received by Modern Woodmen; therefore, a second copy was mailed on December 3, 2021. As of today, Modern Woodmen still does not have the required paperwork signed by the member, which would allow us to finalize his *** transfer request. There will be zero surrender fees charged to the member on this particular transaction.Regarding the consumers request to transfer his life insurance to another company, the initial request for this transaction was received by Modern Woodmen on November 1, 2021. The required Modern Woodmen form was mailed to the member on November 8, 2021. The form was signed by him on November 17, 2021 and received in our home office on November 22, 2021. The surrender was processed that same day with the check being mailed to the replacing insurance company on November 23, 2021. The consumer is correct; he did incur a surrender charge on this transaction. His life insurance was issued in November 2012, and the Certificate Schedule in his life insurance contract states the surrender charge period is 20 years and shows the decreasing charges over that 20-year period. Modern Woodmen encourages any member with a concern to contact us, so we can research and address their concern. If the consumer needs assistance with the final paperwork required to transfer his ***, he can contact us directly, and our staff will gladly help him.
