I am filing this complaint because *************************** (vet at Bellwood animal hospital), dropped my guinea pig from around 3 ft in the air, resulting in death that same night, as well as the lack of help. To explain what happened, I had an appointment for both of my guinea pigs at 8:30am, ***** and Viv, for I am a first time owner. they are under a year old. I got them an appointment for no specific reason, besides a check up to make sure they were healthy. I brought the ********* to the room the assistant lead me to, and answered some questions. I picked up ***** while the vet grabbed Viv from the carrier she was in. I warned them Viv is super skittish. The vet picked up Viv and put her on the table. ******* wasn't holding onto Viv, so the second Viv got scared she went to run for cover. The cover happened to be off the table. ******* tried to stop *** from going off the table, by pinning her against the side of the table, but viv squirmed out of that and landed on the floor. I could not see how she landed because first I was holding *****, and second I was on the other side of the table. The vet asked where she went, so I turned slowly to try not to scare her more, and she was behind me in a corner. The assistant picked up *** and this time, put her in a towel so she would feel safe, and then started her exam. ******* told me that she possibly could be sore, and if she showed signs of soreness, call and get pain medication. ******* was not concerned at all, she commented on how I "need to force love on her to make her less skittish", like it was my fault she fell off the table. I was worried about a broken bone, or anything that possibly could have happened to her. *****'s exam went fine. I paid and left around 9am. I got home and put them in their cage. *** limped to her house, and I gave them greens before I left for work. Viv showed no interest in the food, which is odd because she normally would squeak and come eat right away. I called Bellwood to get the pain meds, and I asked them if she should get an x-ray. They said to just do the meds for now. I trusted them because they know more than me I thought. I got home from work around 5pm with viv's meds. She hadn't moved all day. My brother checked on her throughout the day and said she didn't eat or move. I immediately grabbed her and tried to hand feed her and get her comfortable. I gave her medicine and spent a couple hours with her by my side. I was going to call the next morning and demand an x-ray, but I couldn't because when I woke up she was cold and hard as stone. I am very frustrated and hurt by all that has happened. There was no concern to Viv after a very serious accident. It was very unprofessional to drop her, and very unprofessional to not try and help. I lost my pet this morning because of their lack of professionalism and care. I will attach a picture of how loved they are by me since she says I don't show enough love to them. They are spoiled and nothing ever has happened to them in my care.
