I hired ***** and his company D & D Brothers Landscaping to do a big tree removal in my back yard. ***** had a great quote (but not too far off from another company), and was very communicative at first. He asked for half the amount down to begin the work. I gave him $600 cash. His company came out a couple of times, and did not complete work. Then, they came out and trimmed a couple of large branches, chopped some of it into large chunks and left. I reached out several times because communication had all but stopped and was told they needed a lift.I indicated several times that communication needed to improve and that if they felt that the job was too big they could just return my deposit. After a couple weeks I was told that they would return my deposit.Then, I was told that they would return a portion of my deposit, but not the whole thing as they had done some trimming. We argued about this because I was originally told the entire deposit would be returned. We agreed on a return of $400 of my $600 deposit. (He did not have a contract ready, but I wrote something up and had him sign it when he came for the deposit.)I was told multiple times that the deposit was coming. He would drop it off, he would send it to me via Zelle. He did not.My dad ended up taking on the contact of ***** to try to make arrangements for the return of our deposit, or an agreement of some kind. He lent me the money to begin with. ***** refused.Materials were left in my yard, big logs & a branch were left in the yard. My 15 year old did the dirty work and picked everything up.But I'm still frustrated. ***** was hired mid-July. The ladder was left 7/29, when some of the branch was cut into large logs. Before that, they were there7/21 to cut the branches, and for about 10 minutes on 7/18. ***** picked up my deposit at 8:35pm on 7/17.The job quoted was for a full tree removal and as much of the trunk as possible. It is a HUGE tree.
