My grandfather doesn't speak English, so I have been working on this issue on his behalf. He lives in a condo managed by Property Management Techniques, on the first floor in the building. The ** outflow for all four floors backed up into his unit, causing water damage to the floors and walls. Management is liable for drywall repair, however they have been ignoring my emails throughout this entire process regarding the repair. There is supposed to be someone in the office during business hours, however the office has been unexplainably closed on 3 occasions during business hours. Additionally, a letter received with information "to make an appointment" was false, because upon calling the number listed, a secretary said she was not able to make any appointments to meet. Finally, I emailed the property managers explaining that I will be filing a complaint to the BBB and received a response within 5 minutes. My grandfather has been unable to reside within the unit due to there not being floors or walls for over 2 months. The managers tried to argue that the drywall repair is not their responsibility as well as the patio repair (which has been cracked for over two years) -- however, the prior management company confirmed that it was their responsibility. Now it's been over a week since they've given any updates or responses, while also continuing to send building-wide updates from their email. They continue to pointedly ignore the issue and my emails, while my grandfather is displaced from his home. We cannot continue repairs on the property, including the flooring which had to be ripped up, until they complete the drywall repair. My last request for an update was on 09/05, with still 0 response. This is unethical and unprofessional business practicing as my grandfather pays money to the association on a monthly basis & will receive penalty if he does not pay for services he is not receiving.Business response

As I tried to explain to this person, we just started managing the association this month. We are still transitioning getting the records from the outgoing management, but ****************** is taking her issue to the ***** of ********* for them to review and direct us. Since all of this occurred approx 2-months ago (before our time) we are dererring to the association's ***** of ********* on how best to respond to this issue. We do not have the authority to make the financial decisions for something of this nature - it requires direction from the ***** and they just met with the manager last Friday evening. They have been notified and had an executive session meeting this past Friday.

I am rejecting this response because: I still have no ETA on the drywall repair, and my grandfather is continually displaced from his home due to there not being walls and floors. I would be more understanding of the fact that the company recently began working in the building if any of the people involved with management were more engaged in communicating what they're 1.) planning to do to fix the issue 2.) when they're going to do it. My last email regarding this issue from the company is on 8/31/23. It is 9/13/23. Another two weeks of nothing being done and having no updates. When my father went into the office today, he was told that it could be another month before the issue is resolved and that I "should get a call about it tomorrow"..

An email was sent to this person yesterday morning from ****************** informing them of the action the association is taking to correct this issue. This is not a PMT, *** issue, it is an issue with her association that we have inherited and will ensure is corrected. This issue appears to have started in July or earlier, and was not resolved by the prior management. We are new to the association, we are still transitioning and have notified the association of this. A response went out to the complaintant yesterday informing her that the association will have this correct. I request she please read it and discuss this with ******************, who is orchestrating this to be taken care of.
