I purchased a **** Buick Grand National from Charlestown Classics on December 2, 2022. They had to make a few repairs to the vehicle before I agreed to pick it up per our contract. I was not in a hurry since this is a classic car that I was not planning to drive in the winter. Finally, in early April I rented a trailer and went to pick up the car. I brought the vehicle home and decided to go for a drive a few days later on a nice day. I pulled out onto Route 41 in ********** and noticed smoke coming from the exhaust. It was so bad that a police officer pulled me over within a mile. I received a warning and took the car straight home. I called ********************* from Charlestown Classics and told him the situation. He told me to try a few things and I did but the problem still existed. I did research on the problem and visited some forums and they all said bad piston and ring. I called **** again and told him what I read. I then trailered the car back to St. Charles, IL (about 80 miles from my home) at ****'s request. He had the car for 2 weeks and I could not get a response from him. Finally he told me to come pick up the car because he installed a new PCV valve and that was the problem. He said the compression in the cylinder was fine. I picked up the car and brought it home. Still smoking and even worse. I trailered the car to a local mechanic and he performed a compression test and found the #5 cylinder was cracked. I called **** a few times and finally on June 12 he said he would refund me $4,200.00. I accepted. I have all of this in an email. I brought the car to an engine builder and he showed me the cracked piston and ring from the #5 cylinder. I have pictures. Now ********************* is refusing to pay me the $4,200.00. The bill for the engine rebuild is going to be about $8,000.00 and I am only asking for $4,200.00 from Charlestown Classics. Please help me get paid the $4,200 that I have been offered and accepted all in an email from *********************. Thanks.
