1 star*************** sold me this warranty for my drive train when I purchased a used Escape from them. I am very skeptical of these aftermarket warranties because most of them are just scams hiding behind endless legal tricks to avoid making good on claims. AAGI was several thousand dollars but it was endorsed by the dealer. After less than ****** miles I discovered the differential needed to be replaced. No accident, no damage, and I'm disabled so very little lite use. AAGI said it was covered to take it to any state repair shop. I did they diagnosed the differential problem but it was their policy not to take 3 party warranties like this one because they rarely could be trusted to honor their claims. I called the local **** dealership and they would not do work for this warranty either. I took my car to another repair shop they also determined I needed a replacement and contacted AAGI. They sent an adjuster out who agreed and submitted the claim. To avoid making good on the claim AAGI demanded the unit be removed and dissembled at my expense making the excuse that they needed to inspect the internals before they would honor their warranty. They bullied the mechanic and played word games when I called saying I didn't have to pay for the removal, when asked who paid if they didn't honor the warranty they pretended not to understand and repeated I didn't have to pay. Obviously this is a scam to make obtaining the coverage questionable and cost prohibitive. 2 repair shops and their own adjuster diagnosed the problem the adjuster submitted the claim. If you read other reviews they use this same canard rather frequently to avoid paying. Now I'm struck with loosing my transportation because of their disgraceful tactics. What do you think the odds are after I pay 1800+ dollars to disassemble my car they'll find "carbon build" up or cooties magically providing an excuse to renege on the warranty as they seem to do in the other reviews here on the BBB site?Review fromDerek O

WARNING!!!! Get them to give you your vehicles valuation before signing the contract. I paid $3,200 for my Wheelz Policy #IMP01418780 Apparently the $10,000 car I bought from the ***** Dealership only has a trade in value of $3,200 according to AAGI (which is also the max they will pay out for the contract apparently.)So when the Engine had critical failure only 6 months after purchase they said they would only pay the $3,200. of the $5,000 needed. However, when I look at the average valuation on ** ******, the vehicle has a $5,000 valuation. Also, the dealership told me Wheelz originally tried denying the clam, saying that the failure was due to "CARBON BUILDUP" (running theme in other reviews) which is not covered. The dealership called them out their BS and got them to accept the claim. I'm guessing because they do a lot of business with this dealership. Thank you Wheelz for a policy that significantly undervalued my car. The policy barely paid out the exact same as I paid for it. Waste of time and money.American Auto Guardian, LLC

We are sorry to hear that you were disappointed with the service you received from AAGI regarding your most recent claim. Under the terms of your Wheelz Contract, the total benefits paid under the contract shall not exceed the Actual Cash Value (ACV) of the vehicle at the time of loss. ACV is further defined as the trade-in value of the vehicle immediately prior to Break Down as determined by the most recent National Auto Research Black Book.A review of our files indicates that ***** at Lakeside ********* called AAGI on March 11, 2025, to start a claim because the engine oil light was illuminated, and a knocking noise was coming from the engine. An inspector, independent from and not employed by AAGI, was sent to determine the cause of the failures and the extent of any damages. The inspector found carbon buildup on the piston tops and the oil control rings were stuck due to carbon. While breakdowns due to carbon are excluded from coverage, after an internal review and as a matter of good will, AAGI decided to cover the ********* we explained to both you and the dealership, according to the Black Book, the trade in value of your vehicle at the time of repair was $3,360, leaving an available benefit of $2,668.31 on your Wheelz Contract after deducting $691.69 that AAGI paid for a previous repair. Based upon the terms of your Wheelz Contract, AAGI correctly authorized the maximum benefit due for your repair.Review fromBrittany M

Claim 520173TV I feel it is necessary to express my frustration and concerns about this case. My 2017 Honda Odyssey (Last 6 of VIN #: 006946 warranty info under my fiancé's name which is Curtis Jones) was purchased in May of 2023 and has been routinely maintained since time of purchase. However, on the evening of September 26th 2024 the check engine light began flashing which prompted me to call the Honda dealership to schedule an appointment for the following morning to have the issue diagnosed. At 7am September 27th 2024 I took my van to the service center at the dealership. After patiently waiting with 3 of my 4 children, the service member came to discuss what the mechanics found. I was told my cylinders were misfiring due to a failed piston ring. Since we purchased the "ultimate used car coverage" warranty at time of the vehicle purchase, I felt confident the repairs would be covered since (per the Wheelz pamphlet) "all internal lubricated parts" of the engine were covered. I left my van at the dealership that afternoon understanding that an inspector for AAGI/WHEELZ would be out to confirm the dealerships diagnosis. Following the inspection I was told that the inspector did not agree with the diagnosis and that further "proof" would be necessary to confirm the piston failure. To proceed, I gave permission for the dealership to "break down" my engine. I made this decision on 10/3 after speaking with a AAGI/WHEELZ rep named Karen. The dealership has continued to update me daily on the status of my vehicle. To my dismay, I was notified yesterday (10/11) that the necessary repairs would not be covered due to the inspector disagreeing with the shop again and claiming the failure was due to a carbon build up of some sort. This upsetting news prompted me to reach out to AAGI/WHEELZ again in hopes of some sort of reconsideration/detailed explanation. I feel like my time and our money has been wasted. My fiancé and I are now making payments on an inoperable vehicle.American Auto Guardian, LLC

I've had this company's contracts on several of my vehicles. They've always done an outstanding job, have been easy to work with. They have done everything they said they would do. I cannot recommend them enough. All I have to remember is to give the warranty paperwork to the service people when I pull into the service drive. The rest is always taken care of.American Auto Guardian, LLC

This company does not respect the repair facilities that work for them. Making us work for free over and over trying to buy time and not authorize anything in the end of the day. All they do is generate a terrible customer experience and scratch your shop's reputation over their disrespectful attitude. ***, (0 manners btw) "service writer" made clear today that they don't care if we work with them or not. Definitely this is the last time we work with this business.American Auto Guardian, LLC

We do our best to work with the repair shops that assist our customers with their repair needs and adjudicate claims fairly under the terms of the vehicle service contracts our contract holders purchase. ************ raised general issues with our processing and payment of claims. We would prefer to address specific matters; however, we can see from our records that labor on approved claims was paid at his posted labor rate for the repair time specified by the Motors Labor Time Guide as provided under the service contracts we administer. Another claim was denied because the failures were caused by a condition not covered under the contract. Our claims adjusters are certified mechanics who are knowledgeable about the scope of repairs covered under our contracts. We expect every customer and repair shop representative to be treated courteously. Sometimes valid denials of claims are not well received and misconstrued as a lack of care for the customer. It is not. We are bound to follow the terms of the contract. We would welcome the opportunity to discuss this matter with ************ directly in an attempt to resolve any questions he may have.Review fromLarry Z

Scam!!! The dealership sold me a wheelz warranty for $2900 and a year and a half later I have a major breakdown totaling over $10000 and they told me my warranty caps at $3500 so with my $250 deductible I'm only $450 and the only reason I have a warranty is for major repairs DO NOT PURCHASE THIS WARRANTY!!!American Auto Guardian, LLC

We are sorry to hear that the coverage level of your ********************** Contract did not meet the needs of your repair. While AAGI is only the administrator of your Wheelz vehicle service contract and was not involved with the sale of the vehicle or contract to you, we were able to work with the repair facility to reduce the amount of labor charged for your vehicles repair, and paid the maximum amount authorized under the terms of the contract you chose. If we can be of any further assistance, please contact us at ************.Review fromBrandon Y

Horrible extended warranty company. As a service advisor i have dealt with them on a few occasions and they are the absolute worst to deal with. They flat out have told me they don't care when i say the customer is upset and out of their vehicle because they schedule an inspection. The reps they have answer the phone ******* has blatantly told me he doesn't care if the customers are upset. I would highly recommend not using this extended warranty company.American Auto Guardian, LLC

******************** has identified himself as a service advisor, which leads us to believe that he is employed by a repair shop or car dealership. If so, he likely is aware that vehicle service contracts commonly include a provision that independent inspections may be required in order to determine the cause of any breakdown and whether the repair is covered under a service contract. Inspections protect both the contract holder and AAGI from improper repair charges and allows us to consider all cost-effective options for repair or replacement of failed parts. They also allow customers to make their own choices if the inspection indicates the repair is not covered under the service contract. While a repair facility is usually the first to explain to a customer that an inspection is required and that their authorization for teardown of the failed part is needed, we are always happy to discuss our procedures with our customers. We understand that the customer may not want to wait the brief time it takes to complete an inspection, but that is something they agree to allow when they purchased the service contract.Review fromKim L

Bought a beautiful 2019 Jeep grand Cherokee and purchase extended warranty because we drive our cars a while. The rubber around my taillight has gone bad which caused some electric problems. After speaking with a very rude customer service person who kept repeating we do not cover any rubber or any water damage. Basically their loophole not to pay. He kept saying 90% of the car is covered unless it is the rubber or a light or caused by water damage. The rubber went bad on my *********** car so that is their way of getting out of paying for it. Think about all the rubber on your car? All the lights on your car? If water gets in and my windows dont work then they will not cover. I do not recommend this company at all. Oh the bill is only $900.00 with a $250 deductibleAmerican Auto Guardian, LLC

We have received the Better Business Bureau review of ***************** regarding the claim coverage for certain repairs to ************** 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee under her AutoGuard ******************** Contract (AutoGuard Contract).A review of American Auto Guardian, LLCs (AAGI) file indicates that ******* Jeep contacted AAGI on May 15, 2023, to start a claim because of a tailgate failure. AAGI was advised that the weather stripping around the trucks left rear tail lamp was allowing water to leak into the tailgate which consequently shorted out the tailgate switch. We explained that failures due to water intrusion are specifically excluded from coverage. Additionally, we offered to send an independent inspector to verify the cause of failure and the extent of damage in case there may have been a cause of the needed repair other than water intrusion. The repair facility was confident that the failure was as described and did not want to delay the repair of the Jeep, so this inspection offer was declined.************** AutoGuard Contract does not cover every component of the vehicle. The exclusions to coverage are clearly spelled out in the Contract. The Contract provides in Exclusion H.2 that failures due to water intrusion are not covered. It also states in Exclusion H.8 that lighting and water leaks are excluded from coverage. Our records indicate that this information was courteously explained to her over the telephone. We regret that ************** is not satisfied with the result. However, based on the language of the AutoGuard Contract, AAGIs authority under the contract does not include authorization of the repair sought, so AAGI properly denied coverage for this particular claim.Review fromGretchen E

Terrible experience. Bought the "best" warranty through dealership. Alternator went out on my 2019 For Expedition. Sent repair shop the after market part. Didn't have my car for 2.5 weeks. Finally got it back and 3 days later the same light comes on again. Take it back to a **** Dealership this time, they say I need an OEM alternator. AAGI won't cover that. Will only cover after market. No help. Super rude when I called. Haven't had my car for 9 days again. They will only give me a rental car allowance for $35 a day, but you can't rent a car for that and they don't have a renters agreement with anyone to get a lower rate. I will be cancelling this warranty and looking else where. DO NOT PURCHASE AAGI.American Auto Guardian, LLC

We do our best to provide prompt service to our customers. Unfortunately, in Ms. Ertel’s repair, the replacement part installed by the repair shop failed shortly after installation requiring a subsequent replacement. AAGI acted responsively with the repair shop to complete the needed work as quickly as possible. Ms. Ertel’s AutoGuard Vehicle Service Contract provides that “We may repair your vehicle using new, remanufactured, like and quality or used parts in our discretion.” AAGI authorized the repairs consistent with the terms of the contract. Ms. Ertel also complained about the amount of the rental reimbursement rate. Her AutoGuard contract provides reimbursement for car rental costs incurred up to 7 days at $35 per day while her vehicle is being repaired. AAGI authorized rental expenses for seven days at the rate the contract provided. We regret that our customer was inconvenienced by the unexpected failure of the first replacement part, but we hope Ms. Ertel can see that our actions fulfill our duties to her under the terms of the AutoGuard contract.
