I went there to do annual wellness check on 12/22/2022. I had biometrics screening done at Labcorp before and took the results for the doctor to review. The doctor recommended I do more biometrics and urine tests. I voiced my concern that they might not be fully covered by my insurance since I have done one and I only wanted to do annual check which is fully covered. The doctor told me they are part of their annual physical check and should be covered. I trusted them and did the tests. A few days ago I received EOB from my insurance company and it turns out they are only partially covered. Now I am facing an upcoming bill. I wouldn't have done them if I knew they were not fully covered. I feel being tricked into doing the tests. I have called the ******** department and they blamed me for not checking with my insurance company before agreeing to do the services, despite it was a recommendation by the doctor on site and doctor told me they are fully covered. The message from their ******** department was next time I shouldn't trust their doctors' advice. I am really not sure whether that's a right message to send for a health care provider.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because:I appreciate BBB reaching out to the business regarding my complaint and appreciate the clinic providing the response. However, the response from the clinic is misleading by stating I told them I didn't authorize the uncovered blood tests. My point has never been that I have been billed for services I didn't accept taking or authorized, my point is the way the doctor provided recommendation was misleading.
It was the first time I visited this clinic and I was only prepared to do an annual routine checkup and flu shot, which I knew was covered by my insurance. During the consultation, the doctor recommended I take their blook tests and described them as part of their annual checkup process. I checked with them to confirm whether they will be covered by my insurance, and they confirmed. What I do not understand is, if the doctor and the team only knew the tests are covered by most insurance plans and not sure whether mine covers them, why couldn't they just tell me they are not certain and I should check with my insurance company? That can at least help me make a better judgement. They essentially blame me for not immediately calling my insurance company in the middle of a routine checkup at a doctor's ****** before I accept their recommendation (which I am not sure how practical it is anyway). My complaint is the way they offered the services was not entirely candid and I felt being misled into doing those tests and ended up having to pay the bill.
Sincerely,
