I took my 2010 *****3 to Value Transmission on Nov 9, 2022. The car had a check engine and automatic transmission (AT) light on and wouldnt shift past 3rd gear. The owner, ****, performed a diagnostic check and had his head mechanic assess the situation. It was determined that only the Transmission Control Model (***) needed to be replaced. He informed me that the transmission was not the issue and was in good shape. They replaced the *** and I picked up the car on December 7, 2022 after several delays. I was told the delay was due to an issue with the first *** part replaced and they had to replace it with a second one. While there I asked his opinion on the overall transmission in general. He told me again that the transmission was in good shape. On February 27, 2023 the check engine and automatic transmission lights came on again. The *** part was under warranty. I returned the car and was informed that they tested the *** and thought the part was working fine (which later would not be not true). I was told that the car needed a transmission rebuild if the *** was working properly. They quoted me $2,800, but I was surprised given they had recently stated that the transmission was in good shape. How could the transmission fail in 3 months after the *** was replaced and the overall transmission in good shape? I asked **** if the rebuild would be with new, used or remanufactured parts. He assured me that the rebuild would be with new parts, not used or refurbished. I would later find out this was not the true either and he did not use new parts. On March 14, 2023 I picked up the car after the the transmission was rebuilt. I paid, drove off and within half a mile away from the shop the check engine light and AT light came back on. I turned around and returned the car. They hooked up the diagnostics reader (same error code P0791 as on 2/27/23) and I was told that the issue was with the *** that they previously claimed was working (the part they replaced 3 months ago). I felt that I had been taken advantage of as the issue was back to the original replaced part. The next day **** confirmed that the *** was indeed bad again and he was getting yet another replacement from a different supplier. This now making it 3 times they replaced the *** and 2 times it ultimately failed in the 3 months since originally replaced. I felt misled as they previously claimed that the *** was working fine prior to the transmission rebuild. I was even told that a prior customer had to come back with the same issue on a ***** *** part they installed. They should have 100% made sure the *** was working (even replacing it again knowing there were issues with this replaced part/supplier) prior to requesting and performing a transmission rebuild. I went in on 3/21/23 and politely discussed the 2 faulty ***s with **** and how poorly the situation looked and the mistakes they made along the way. I felt they needed to bear some responsibility for the bad parts and decision to rebuild the transmission. He said that he wouldnt be using this supplier again. I asked him if we could work together on the charge given the circumstances. **** refused and pulled out one of the invoices to give me a copy. At home I took a closer look at the invoice. Lo and behold, the supplier was *********** Powertrain **************************** and the part was remanufactured and not new. **** lied once again as he told me prior to rebuilding the transmission that he only used new parts. Since then Ive spoken with several other transmission shops about the situation. Ive been told that a bad *** can burn up a transmission in no time. They would have gone back to the company that supplied the faulty part(s) to get a warranty claim if the part caused the transmission to go bad. The warranty should have been able to help out in some way. Furthermore, clutch material is always in the pan, especially a car with over 100k miles. ** long as the car is driving fine there is no reason to replace the transmission. I trusted my car with Value Transmission, but they were not always truthful throughout the process. They should bear some financial responsibility of putting in multiple bad ***s in the car and how that affected the overall transmission. Either 1) Value Transmission unnecessarily rebuilt the transmission thinking the *** part was working properly at the time or 2) the *** they replaced several times that turned out to be a bad part burned up the transmission and passed that burden on to the customer.

I never once told customer it's a new TCM. There is no such thing as new anymore, ***** themselves cannot get more TCMs. I went through this with the customer for 30 minutes. Also customer did not want to share the financial burden, he wanted the rebuild for free. He also agreed to the repair over the phone and only changed his mind when his father in law told him he shouldn't have to pay for the rebuilt transmission. I am not returning any money's back.

Its been months and customer hasn't called me back to complain about his car not working properly. So it's obvious my repair was necessary.

I am rejecting this response because:

I never stated the *** was new.  I understand that there were several rebuilt ***s that were put in the car and caused an issue with the transmission.  Value Transmission then said they would be rebuilding the transmission with new parts, but that was not true.  I have seen several other people complain that they were lied to about that as well.  I also never once asked for the rebuild for free.  I asked that they share some of the financial burden on the rebuild that was either done unnecessarily or burnt up by the bad ***s.  They said the transmission was in good shape, only did it go bad after they put in several bad ***s.  After picking up the car I didn't even get a half a mile before the check engine light came back on after they rebuilt the transmission, only to find out they actually needed to replaced the *** again.

Now the customer is assuming I put used parts in his tranmission with no proof. Just making accusations. I'm done going back and fourth. Obviously your vehicles transmissoion needed to be rebuilt, it's been months and you have had no issues. You also asked your credit card company to call me and ask for a refund. Complaining on here first then asking for a refund isn't the way to go. There will be no refund of any kind issued. Thank you.

      Complaint: 20059020

I am rejecting this response because:

Here is the Invoice and proof that confirms remanufactured parts were used for the rebuild.  I specifically asked over the phone whether new, used, or remanufactured parts were installed for the rebuild and you said only new, which turned out to not be the truth.  I never asked for a full refund, but there were mistakes made with the ***s installed that you are not willing to take any accountability for.   If you properly diagnosed that the *** you put in was bad, the rebuild may have never been needed.

It's not a remanufactored part. The name of the company is called **** Man. **** as in ******, which is a tool to test valve bodies. Anyway. This is the last message I'll respond to. Have a good day

      Complaint: 20059020

I am rejecting this response because:

Main reason for opening this case was they claimed I needed a rebuilt transmission after they tested the *** they put in months prior was working properly.  But after the rebuild didn't get a half a mile away before lights pop up again on the dashboard.  Brought the car back again and now they say oops, actually it's the *** that is the issue.  Why wasn't that part fixed first (it was under warranty)?  Why should I be responsible for misdiagnosis on your end?  Was the transmission rebuild even needed if *** was replaced first?  They keep dancing around answering these issues and appear to have taken advantage of the situation.

I had transmission problems with my truck so I brought it to value transmission in ****** ********. They stated the truck would need a full rebuild on the transmission and quoted me 2600-2800$ to fix it and said it would come with a 12month warranty, it ended up being *****. They said it was fixed and ready to be picked up so I paid for it and took it home. I was instantly having other issues that I didn't have before I brought it to them and they said they couldn't fix it and refused to refund my money. Once I told them I couldn't drive it because it was worse then before they threatened to have my truck towed. The owner left me a voice mail saying they did all they could do and "I needed to take it to someone who knows what they're doing". The owner refused to work with me and voided my warranty and told me to never come back to his shop. It was the most unprofessional experience of my life. I gave the shop a bad review on ****** and the owner lied and made up excuses to why he couldn't fix it.

Customer has an aftermarket computer system running his truck. There are wires hanging every which way in the engine compartment. The truck isn't running correct because of this aftermarket set up. I politely asked the customer to have someone set this system up correctly and correctly run his wiring and return. Never was he told his warranty is voided.

I asked customer to never return due to customer becoming hostile with my mechanic. To the point where police were involved.

Lastly, when customera girlfriend picked vehicle up the first time I advised her to be gentle with vehicle for 500 miles, she peeled the tires leaving my shop. It's not on me it customer get hostile with ********** recklessly, and rigs his truck instead of doing it the right way

On 3/23/2022 I had my transmission fixed on my 2010 Jeep Wrangler at Value **************** in ******, **. I chose to go with this transmission center specifically because they provided a 12-month, 12,000-mile warranty on the transmission. Prior to agreeing to service with Value Transmission, I noted that I would be moving to ********* soon, & I asked if this would be an issue should anything come up with the warranty. I was explicitly told no, that this would not affect my 12-month, 12,000-mile warranty coverage. I paid $3,326.40 for this service. On 2/17/2023 my engine light once again came on & my Jeep was unable to accelerate properly. As I had moved to ** since my previous repairs, I dropped my Jeep off at ********************** in **********, **. I told the staff at ********************** that my transmission was under ************ requested that they work with Value Transmission & communicate with them prior to doing any repairs. The staff at Accelerated Auto sent all requested information including the dash ************** to Value Transmission. When the staff at Accelerated Auto dropped the transmission oil pan, they found metal ***************** transmission oil. They concluded that this was an internal transmission issue. During communication regarding the necessary repairs, the staff at Value Transmission stopped replying to phone calls, ******************** from both Accelerated ********* father who was advocating for me. They denied responsibility & ultimately did not provide the service for the warranty that they sold to me. As a result, I had to pay an additional $3,458.73 for repairs to the faulty transmission that was sold to me & installed by Value Transmission. I am filing this complaint as I paid for a service that was not upheld by Value Transmission. As a resolution, I am asking that they either refund the $3,326.40 for the false claim warranty or that they pay the $3,458.73 to cover the repairs that would fall under the warranty I paid for.

I never told customer my warranty is nationwide. I tell my customers that if anything comes up, they have to return to my shop for warranty. Otherwise how can I tell if something is really wrong with said customers car.
