So today we took a ****** to the Dogtopia in South Elgin. During her time there, an incident occurred between her and another dog and ****** received an injury to her face/head/eye area. I understand that things like this happen sometimes in my these environments. What I don't understand is how something like this happens and management doesn't feel the need to call and let us know our baby is hurt. What's even worse is the ***** (****) was working the front desk when I came to pick her up and didn't even mention that anything happened. In fact he tried to sell me on a membership and pictures. I felt like ****** was acting a little strange on the way home but figured she had probably had an especially tiring day. It wasn't until getting her out of the truck that I saw what had happened. After getting an emergency vet appointment I called Dogtopia to ask more about what happened, why I wasn't informed, and I addressed some concerns about proper staffing. I was given smug (probably scripted) responses about how everything Dogtopia does is up to par (according to whom?)One person is not capable of overseeing 40 dogs safely in a small space with plenty of blind spots. Most people are also not going to risk their own well being for the measly $12 and hour they give their "handlers" in the event of a situation. On a personal note, I also found it very convenient that **** also tried to put the blame on my dog for the incident, but then when asked if he had also neglected to inform the other dog owners of the incident, he admitted that it was only my dog that was injured and therefore he did not report it to the other owners.Needless to say, I am furious and will never take my dog here again. If there's anything positive to mention it's that ******** eye should heal alright.
