My vehicle was in need of repairs 4/22. The vehicle was dropped off with ****** at a repair shop in Riverton, Il. When my husband stopped in to check on the vehicles repairs, ****** informed him that our vehicle had been moved to his friends shop (Riteway Automotive) in Springfield, Il for repairs. We were then advised by ***** ******* that we needed an engine replacement. Several months lapsed due to not having the financial ability at the time to fund replacement. Once the funds for repairs were given to *****, we rcvd the vehicle back. The same day the car was returned, the check engine light came on and the car began putting. We went directly back to Riteway and ***** erased the code and let us know that it was fine and just needed to be calibrated due to engine replacement. We made ***** aware that we were traveling out of state to Missouri to attend our son's college game and he advised not to worry and that it would be fine. I reached out to ***** during the trip to make aware that the check engine light came back on and the car was putting and eating an abundance of gas. ***** stated it was due to high winds and to stop and have the code cleared. We attempted to have the code cleared at a few Automotive shops which made us aware that it was illegal to remove the code and refused to do so. We were stranded in Rolla, MO on our way home with a car that putted to a stop and wouldn't start. We had to get transportation home and left ***** a message making him aware and let him know where the car was stalled. He informed me he would take a car dolly and get my car back which happened days later. He started the engine was no good, but was under warranty and he would replace. He proceeded to tell me that he also replaced the starter which I never heard was bad. I called repeatedly and kept being told that he was working with the company on a warranty replacement and had not heard back yet. A month lapsed and I called the company myself to be told the replacement order had just been placed and effective was on its way. Then we were told daily that it would be five the next day, the next week, etc. The police were involved and ***** made them aware we would have the vehicle by Monday. More weeks passed and no return calls and no vehicle. ***** then stated we owed another $900 of which we did not agree. We spent thousands on rental cars and ***** stated he had a vehicle that he was going to work on and provide as a loaner. This never happened. Riteway was given $900 and we were told our car was taken to impound lot and the tow company would be bringing the vehicle. We then find out the car was driven to Riverton, Il and the tow company was called to pick it up. The police were present as well. My odometer had 500 plus more miles than the final invoice had shown. I took my vehicle immediately for an oil change where we were advised there was no oil in the vehicle, but the invoice reflects a charge for oil. I expressed to ***** that I do not believe the car needed a starter, but this was rather a way to make money, being he had already been paid for the engine repairs. He then stated we needed to pay labor for another engine replacement and the trip for him to get the vehicle from Rolla, MO which we do not feel responsible for. It is not our fault the engine was no good and not our fault that we stalled when he told us it was safe to drive out of state and not to waste more money on a rental. I have now had another mechanic look over the car due to check engine light and it turns out the lifters needs replaced, which was part of the engine replacement. I have left numerous messages for ***** to avoid court, but have had no return calls. I also requested a detailed invoice of the engine replacement and miles on engine, but rcvd a duplicate copy of the initial cost, which reflected different amounts.Business response

We went above and beyond in our duties as a car repair facility to help this customer. They were un-pleasable. We did everything in our power to cut costs and save these people money, including asking them to only pay gas when I took my time to drive to Rolla, Mo to get the car when it broke down. I was punched by this customers husband, I had to call the police, which is why they were involved. These customers have been trespassed from this business.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because:
I have chosen to handle through the courts, as I have left ***** numerous voicemails with no return calls. Other mechanics have documented that the current engine being the 2nd replaced by Riteway/***** is also no good. I spoke with the company of which ***** used for both engines and this is a first for them in regards to providing 2 engines of which are no good. Mechanics advised that the engines could have been perfectly fine, but if not installed correctly with all counterparts, could and would eventually lock up.I have invoices which include AC charging, but my AC is not working, which has also been documented. There were no issues with my AC at the time my vehicle was taken for engine replacement.
Invoices provided also reflect different amounts/ charges, as well as blacking out of work done. Invoice also reflects oil charges, but have documentation from oil change business minutes after picking up my vehicle, that my car in fact had no oil in it.
Riteway also had unlicensed people working on my vehicle.
Thank you BBB for attempting to help resolve the matter outside of court, but this is being handled.
