My father took out a policy with Columbia National Life that dated back based on receipts, to 03/12/1970. Based on what I can find he paid 313.00 per year for a whole life policy. In 1985 that policy was rolled into a Universal Guaranty Life whole life policy under policy **********. It was a $50,000 policy and was supposed to be paid up in 1991. I have the schedule. In 1991 my father, *** ******, passed away and I had a son, all with in 2 weeks. After speaking with an agent to add my son, he sent me paperwork to add him. What has ended up happening is in 1992 the policy was changed to 25,000. (what I thought I was doing was adding my son). After speaking with the Universal Life agent and based on my mothers' info the policy was paid up in 1991. When I kept getting billings for the next 30 years I was led by the agent to dis-regard the billing. I did that. This year, I have been bombarded with threat letters from agents at Universal threatening me the policy will lapse. I have paid them some money. I am now getting papers to sign to yet, another policy change with premiums that are unheard of for 50,000, let alone 25,000. I( have all paperwork. My father, in good faith was taking out a policy to pay after I passed for his grandchildren. Universal has bought out, companies, bought out policies and now has no record of the past. I am trying to get what my father paid for in full reinstated, so that his intent can be honored. Is there any way you can help with this? Please let me know what information I can provide.
