I was a hicks gas customer for several years and awesome at first. Then **** ran the store. He allowed my family to sit in a freezing home while laughing at us due to pressure being too low, we had someone here that made him come see in person it was too low preventing our furnace to fire during below zero cold spell. Fast forward a couple years and they showed up to our house in March threatening to remove our tank with propane in it accusing us of filling it with another companies' gas. I was appalled and felt violated. They made us pay COD and wanted us to leave "blank checks" for them to fill out. In Feb. 2023 we switched to a new company. Now I have been calling the Spfld store to get the hazardous, abandoned propane tank out of my yard. I was put on a "list". 2 weeks ago we had a trespasser come onto the property trying to either steal propane, or they thought we had anhydrous tanks since they had been spraying the fields around us. This occurred during the day right before my little girls came home from school off the bus. I'm thankful they didn't encounter this criminal, but now I fear they will return. I called hicks the day of the occurrence expressing my concerns and still haven't heard anything. Last week I called the Lincoln office I was put in touch with ***** ***** who said he would contact ****( the manager that used to run Spfld store and the one that treated us poorly). Today I called Bloomington spoke to ***** who said he would again talk to **** about getting this tank picked up. I pleaded with them that this is an emergency and it needs to be worked in, but fear with **** in control this will not happen as he has never had concern for the safety and wellbeing of my family. They refused to give me ****'s bosses name walking me in circles saying they would have them contact me, then after explaining the safety concerns I was given his name, but no one knows his number or location. It takes 30 min for ems to get here if something bad happens.Initial Complaint

We were happy Hicks Gas customers for years. We started out 2022 with a CREDIT of $15 on my account. We had our tank fill 1/25/2022 and paid the driver directly, receiving the 'early pay' 15% discount from him. The local office was closed so my check was not picked up for weeks. I called and spoke to someone at the Decatur office twice to see if my check had been received but was told someone from corporate had to pick checks up. After nearly a month my check (and driver's receipt) were received and the full amount on the bill was entered into the computer system, NOT the adjusted amount of the 15% early pay discount. They also neglected to credit the check to the account and we started receiving bills for the full amount plus late fees. I called several times, finally speaking to a male representative. I sent copies of my cleared check, a copy of the "PAID" receipt from the driver and dates of earlier calls. None of this was helpful with bill resolution. I finally resorted to the BBB where I left a complaint. Shortly thereafter the company removed most of the bill amount but has still not resolved this issue entirely. Recently we received a bill for "unpaid finances charges" in the amount of $28.20. For what? We don't owe anything and haven't. If all was correct with this company's balance sheet we would still have the same credit on the account of 15$ where we began over eight months ago. Based on our experience this year I absolutely can not recommend this company to anyone. We will be looking for a new provider.Customer response
