I needed a CT scan of the lumbar section of my spine to get into my back specialist. I had a scan completed on 9/21/2022 at the clinic on Hurst in ******* but the scan was of the thoracic section and not the lumbar as was requested. The dr. wouldn't order another CT scan as I had had another one the same day of the kidney area so they wanted to do an MRI instead due to radiation exposure concerns. The insurance denied approval for the MRI as I had just had a CT scan so it took until 11/30/22 to get the appeal for insurance approved and the MRI scheduled to get into my back specialist. Now I am stuck paying for the CT scan and the MRI (which is double the cost of the CT scan) as well as now getting my back specialist pushed into 2023 because of the delay in getting the second scan completed and I have to pay another years deductible which is $5000. Carle expected me to pay for both scans in addition to the additional deductible I am going to have to pay out because of their error. So basically Carle made the error and is expecting the patient to pay for it. I am going to be out around an additional $6000 because of the error they made. I filed a complaint with them to dispute the charges and they initially denied my dispute. I appealed that decision and they reduced my bill by $298. In all of that they never once contacted me to try and get a better understanding of my complaint or what would be a workable solution. Carle made the error that is costing the patient close to $6000 and has took a measly $298 off my bill owed to them. In this time of dispute and lack of communicating with me about this issue they have gone ahead and turned over other bills of mine to an outside collection agency. I am requesting at the least the cost of the MRI to be removed from my bill but the ideal solution because of my additional deductible expenses would be to cover my outstanding balance and the amount turned into collections. I believe that amount is around $2500.
