Reynold's Towing illegally towed my car. I have asked for proof of authority to tow the car. They have continued to deny the request. The car should have never been towed off the university property. They did not provide proof of approval to tow.Business response

Without knowing what vehicle you are disputing, your car was towed one of 3 ways. 1st was by the police department and with what you have stated it doesn't seem to be that. 2nd and 3rd ways are you were parked in a rented spot by a tenant with a lease and ID or by the management company or city of Champaign if it was on the street. When the later happens we legally cannot disclose the information of the person that had the vehicle towed. We are then held liable if anything were to happen to that person or their vehicle due to retaliation for having someone towed. If you have been towed then you can request that information from Urbana PD, Champaign PD, or University of Illinois PD as I can assure you they were notified of the tow per the ordinance in those cities. Tows such as these are not illegal and are the only means of removing cars from private property or rented spaces therefore the state and city has policies regarding these types of relocation tows. The Police Departments can then decide if you should have that private information. Therefore a refund will not be provided.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because:
Reynolds knows there is a protocol to tow cars from the **** private university property. I have asked for documentation from Urbana AND **** police who did not give approval for this company to tow the car off site and there is no record of the request. As you can tell they will not provide information on the event coordinator. This has been a hindrance in resolving the issue. Protocol was not followed, and they have scammed me.This is not a legal tow. They have refused to provide documentation to my credit card company or to me. This is an unfair business practice.
