This business (Xenia Living, LLC) rent me this unit (*** ****** ******* *********** ** *****) place that is unkept, has old appliances, and has unfinished maintenance. The room they rent me has only one exit, and it is on the second floor with wooden stairs. I mentioned to the property manager that I have small children and I am concerned of safety issues. When I personally went to check the property on September 21, the grass was over a feet tall. There were foul smell coming from the driveway. On Friday, the property manager (****** ********* called me if I was still interested in the unit. I told him that I went to check the unit per his request and told him what I found. He told me that the place is empty but the inside is renovated. He requested documents (sources of income) from me to be sent online. I sent him my VA disability, and G>I Bill housing stipend letter. I pay 39.99 for background check. Afterward, he shared with me inside pictures of the unit through Gmail. I was pretty excited and asked the property manager when can I move. I even signed the lease before I physically check the inside. I trusted him and the pictures. On September 29, The property manager told me to bring two checks of 875 to have the unit. We were supposed to meet at 12. I arrived 15 minutes prior. I called him to let him know that I am the property. He was late for over 45 minutes. I was sitting in my car waiting. Every time I stepped out of the vehicle to stretch my leg, I had to get back in the car because of the foul smell. When he finally showed up, he walked up upstairs with me, there were skillets laying on the stairs. The refrigerator and oven were disgusting. There were some dents and peeled paint on the walls. There is an empty space on the corner size of kitchen. one of the two rooms has as washer and dryer. I asked if I am getting new appliances. He told me no. He already has my checks, and he wanted to give me another if I want to break the lease.
