I bought the car in March of 2023. The engine light came on. the dealer told us to keep driving and that it would go out. He told us it was the air flow sensor. The engine light is still on and the car does not run, A diagnostic said the catalytic converter was bad since I bought it. I have attempted to repair it multiple times. The dealer has not been able to be reached.

Hello BBB: This complaint is not accurate. When they purchased the vehicle, the check engine light was not on, all readiness monitors were completed, and it was fine. During the sale process, I was very forthright in explaining to them the process we went through getting it right. After the sale, they drove the vehicle and said the light came on. The code was for mass airflow, NO codes for O2 sensors, no codes for catalytic converter. A technician would not even go into a diagnosis for a catalytic converter issue without a trouble code. So now, it has been well over a year since purchase, and a technician (who I don't know, nor have I ever spoken to) told them the catalytic converter is bad. We are well past any responsibility for this issue. I do know that they rely on this car, so I offered to help them find a lower price alternative. On our recent call, I explained all of this to them, and offered help. Here, in her complaint, she states I never answer?? I would love to help, as we help our customers all the time, but this is not our responsibility to pay for this after a year, plus. They need the vehicle, maybe are on a fixed income, and don't have the money to repair the used vehicle they own, and are blaming us. Unfortunately, this is how it goes sometimes. We won't be paying for any repairs, but we are willing to help get lower cost / discounted parts and labor to assist. Thanks.

I am rejecting this response because: His response is inaccurate and we still need a car.

      Hello BBB:

Springer Auto Sales is not responsible for making sure their car runs and drives. The vehicle was running fine when they purchased it. Maintenance and repairs, after nearly a year and a half, is / are the responsibility of the customer. Not us.

In my last response, I mentioned how we may be able to help. We get discounts on parts and labor, and we can assist them in arranging the purchase of the needed parts at their expense but at a discount, as well as scheduling the repair at one of our shops allowing for lower labor rates, at their expense.

We will not be paying for any repairs, but we are happy to help in the manner explained in both this response, and the prior.

Finally, we have been very willing to help these folks. If this continues, we are going to have to back away. If they would like our help, they will need to call us at ************ and discuss these options with us.

If we get another response back to this complaint, I will upload a copy of the *** Buyers Guide they signed at the time of sale showing a 15 Day / 500 ************ Powertrain Warranty. We are over a year beyond this time frame, so our liability to mechanical repairs has passed.

      Thank you, **** Springer
