We had a chain link fence installed in our back yard in March 2023. In January 2025, a long portion around 40 ft, on the west side, disconnected from the posts and rail (due to wind), and sagged into neighbor's yard. When I emailed Peerless, I received a call from a manager. He said he, nor his boss, who had both been in the fence business for decades, had never heard of a chain link fence coming apart like this. I agreed as that is why I purchased chain link (low maintenance and no wind issues). I suggested that perhaps the fence was not tied properly during the installation, and asked for someone to come out and take a look and possibly repair or re-tie the fence. The manager refused to send anyone, and said that the only way this could have happened was by someone maliciously pulling on the fence. I replied this clearly was not the case. He offered that I drive to ************ (an hour round trip for me) and they would provide the tie wire for me to make the repair. I asked if they could drop off the tie wire and the manager refused. He hung up on me. I find this company's customer service to be extremely poor as they do not back up the work. I seek reimbursement of $200 for the wire I had to buy and for my time repairing the fence myself.

Upon review of the pictures the customer provided as well as getting information from the customer, our Service and Repair Tech as well as our Operations Manager concluded that the situation as described by the customer and the request to fix at no charged and/or reimburse is highly unlikely to have been the reason and is outside of any warranty coverage as well.  Unless something falls on the fence, or the fence is purposely taken down wire ties would not fail, even under windy conditions. Each post has at least 2-3 wire ties on to secure the stretched wire mesh to the post, as well as approximately every 8ft along the top rail to hold the wire mesh.  So within a 40ft section you would have approximately 14 ties along that section of fence.  All the wire ties would have needed to fail all at once in order for 40ft of wire mesh to "fall down".  Also, in the pictures you can clearly see some of the black wire ties that we used at time of installation in March of 2023, still hanging from the chain link mesh indicating that they were untied and left there.  Upon request, Mr. ******* provided pictures of the fence to us with new red and yellow wire ties used to hold the chain Link mesh back up (see attached pictures provided).  We were unable to obtain from ********** any pictures showing when the wire mesh "fell down".  Only pictures from when it was placed back up.  In addition, the fence comes with a one year labor warranty which covers any workmanship issues within the first year. The labor warranty coverage ended March 2024.  It was stated to Mr. ******* that we would be happy to have Tech come out and replace the red and yellow wire ties with black for a service charge, or that we could provide the material if we wanted to come pick it up from our ************ location, but no reimbursement would be provided in the case.

Project fence installation was completed on 11/22/24 per contract.  Since that time, Peerless has been back 2-additional times to complete additional requests.  Ms. ******* was stated ***** were installed incorrectly as an inswing gate, however they were installed as per it showed on her contract. Ms. ******* had some concerns about a few boards on the fence as well.  A  crew was sent out on 12/12/24 to correct the things requested to be fixed.  Approximately around 12/17/24, one of our in-house installers was scheduled to return to look over the project and confirm with Ms. ******* that everything was completed as expected.   We communicate with our customers that it is needed for the customer to be home on the day or installation and during any repair requests to ensure any work completed meets their expectations and schedule crews accordingly to accommodate the customer's schedule.  This was communicated and confirmed with Ms. ************** Unfortunately, during each on-site appointment, Ms. ******* was not available.  We are submitting pictures to show day of install completion of fence, as well as pictures from 12/12 during and after the requested repairs were completed.  Upon inspection of the fence completed on the 3rd trip approximately 12/17, all areas of concern were addressed as well as the overall quality of installation was confirmed to be completed as expected.

Sales guy came when I was not home, I explained over the phone what I needed replaced, then he got sick and didnt write down properly my instructions. The installation team was horrible too, left trash behind, broker my gutters and were scary looking people. Needless to say, my fence was not installed properly. ********** sucked too because when I complained to them, the people answering, sounded like they were in the ***********. No one took responsibility for the s***** job this company did and no one got back to me. Why does ********** deal with companies that provide poor service? I thought they would be better. This is my only and Last time I will use ********** for any projects and I will be very careful with contractors I simply want to complaint so other buyers dont get taken advantage of. If there were negative 5 stars, I would give Peerless Fence -5 stars.

Fence project was contracted through ***********  A ********** contract was signed and payment was made to ***********  The installation of the fence contracted was completed on 5/24/24 according to the specification on the contract.  Attached is the original signed contract that was completed.  Also is included is the drawing page written in red of what the customer stated was discussed with the Sales *** at one point, but it was not part of the scope of the original contract that was signed on 4/29/24, nor was the customer charged for this additional work.  After installation was completed, it was discussed with the customer this additional footage can be added-on and quoted for and would be handled as a change order, or handled as a separate project with a new contract quoted and paid for for that work to be completed.    As for the damaged gutter and pieces of fence that were left behind, those were reported and addressed to clean up and have since been taken care of as of July 2024.

We hired Peerless Fence through **********'s contractor referral service to install a fence as part of our backyard renovation, which included a pool, fireplace, pavilion, and more. We chose ********** because we believed their reputation would ensure the use of reliable companies and provide support if anything went wrong. When Peerless Fence workers arrived to install the fence, they damaged a gas line while digging post holes. This led to our gas being shut off, and we incurred a repair bill of over $1,000. The workers did not speak English, so we were unable to communicate with them directly. We had to visit ********** to initiate a claim with ********, the claims management company. Even after providing photographic evidence that the gas line was properly marked with a flag and a red X, our claim was denied. Peerless Fence, through Sedgwick, continued to find loopholes, first stating the line wasnt marked, and then claiming it wasnt marked with the correct color. This has resulted in an exhausting process with no resolution, and the company refuses to take responsibility for the damage they caused. I am deeply disappointed with the unprofessional behavior of Peerless Fence and their refusal to compensate us for their negligence. We trusted *********** reputation and services when selecting Peerless Fence, but this experience has shown us that they are not a reliable or trustworthy contractor. We are seeking compensation for the $1,000+ cost of repairing the gas line damaged by Peerless Fence. Additionally, we want others to be aware of the risks involved when hiring this company for any installation work. We will continue to escalate this matter until we receive a fair resolution.

Claim was filed through ********** and through Peerless, claim was denied as the line was the customer's private gas line was for a pool.  The pool gas line was not properly marked.  It was found that a public line was marked near it, however the private line was not.   It is also stated in the ********** contract that contractor is not liable and do not cover private utilities.

I formally reject Peerless Fences assertion that they are not liable for the damage to the gas line on my property during the fence installation.

The gas line was clearly marked, and the individuals who installed the line were present on-site at the time of installation. At no point was there communication from Peerless Fence to coordinate or discuss the location of the gas line with these individuals. Given these circumstances, there is a reasonable expectation of due diligence on Peerless Fences part to communicate with the team that was present.

For these reasons, I believe Peerless Fence should take responsibility for the damages caused, as there was a clear failure to exercise proper care and communication.

I look forward to your prompt response and resolution of this matter.

      Sincerely,

In this case, this was a situation with the customer having an unmarked private utility line.  ************** contract clearly states that private utility lines are the responsibility of the homeowner and ********** and the fencing contract or not responsible for, especially when the utility was unmarked at time of the fence installation.  ********** and their insurance continue to stand by our denial of this claim.

I am rejecting this response because the line was marked with spray paint and in the photos I have provided to them and the flag that was dug up is on top of the dirt pile. This company is using any and everything they can to displace any and all responsibility.

When Ms. ******** reported the incident of a private gas line that was hit, a full explanation was provided by the customer as well as pictures to support their case.  A case review was conducted at that time after all the information was provided.  Upon completion of the review, it was deemed that the markings in the photo the customer provided are not for a gas line and were not consistent with the location of the private gas line in question. One of the public electrical line markings (seen red in color) is somewhat near the area where the gas line is located, but was not marking that particular utility. There is also an orange public cable/internet utility marked further back in the photo and not near where the holes were dug. Neither marking is a gas line marking (public gas utilities are marked in yellow), and private lines of any kind are to be marked by the homeowner.

In summary, what was damaged is a private gas utility that was not appropriately marked by the homeowner, which is why the claim was denied by Peerless, **********, and **********'s insurance. There is the displacement of liability. It is simply a case that this is a private utility that the homeowner didn't mark and the homeowner is liable for.

I am rejecting this response. I think it is unbelievable that a business hired through ********** continues to make their company and ********** look bad. The flag in the photo was placed directly above the gas line marking the area and was dug up and moved by the Spanish speaking laborers. I specifically went with a ********** backed company because I thought they better vetted the companies they backed. This company is doing everything to get out paying $1000 bill for something they damaged and I am highly disappointed. I will continue to spread the word that this company is a company to stay far away from.

I purchased a fence with tear down and installation. There has been issues with quality. The fence does not close correctly, it is warping and flexing around the seems. I have contacted the original contractor, customer service and two main offices. During the pandemic I was told everything is on hold, which is understandable. In 2023 I finally got someone out to look at it. He admitted fault with installation, said it should be a quick fix. Since then he has not responded to my emails or phone calls. I've even included the original office manager in the emails and no one will respond to me. The last response was october of 2023, where I was told someone had quit and they were waiting on a new contractor. Now I'm sure the warranty has ended, and no one could elaborate on the "lifetime warranty " without looking up my contract.

April 28th or April 29th of year 2021, I paid $400 upfront and $350 after completion of work.Peerless Fence company is a contractor for *********** they referred me to this company, I initially had a cedar privacy installed by a different contractor for *********** The door to the privacy fell over and the post was rotten. The estimator (*********************) from Peerless had come for the door, he suggested another post/panel *** need to be replaced in addition even though I did not see anything visible to concur. The posts were replaced, my door reinstalled, panel replaced. On July 9, 2024, the fence panel that was replaced fell partially over, the nail was short and root rot at bottom. ***** sent **** (estimator), July 24, I spoke to ****** same day. I called ***** couple days later to get an update, she stated ****** did not want free of charge repair, I asked for the manager *****, he strung me along for a few days stating he will investigate. I called the final time to get an update from *****, he states it's been a year warranty, and he only see a post replaced. I did not give that amount money for a post, cedar last longer than 3 years, the other panels do not have wood rot or short nails at top of fence. Initially when these guys came out to replace the panel, they had pressure treated wood, I made them aware this was a cedar panel they were replacing, they had to return for the repair. The resolution would be for the company to send someone to nail my fence back properly. I am very disappointed with this company, will never refer anyone. I made contact with ********** resolution department after my last contact with Peerless Fence, to make them aware I was filing a complaint with BBB. I called this morning for an update, no one had reached out to me, the representative stated that **** will get me an estimate, **** never spoke or emailed me, poor communication. Overall, Peerless should have some integrity in workmanship, repair my fence.

I am rejecting this response because: I was not made aware of 1 year warranty, this information came up after the fact.  Cedar wood does not rot that quick, most companies guarantee the material for at least 15 years, that is why it is more expensive.  The original contractor who installed my fence guaranteed it 20 years,  that is one of the reasons ********** compensated me for the door to be reinstalled.  The fence panel replacement was by the suggestion of *********; ******, there was nothing visually compromising with the fence, based on his experience I went along with the suggestion.  Peerless installed poor quality material, the rest of my fence is not in that condition, they initially brought pressure treated wood to replace, fortunately I was there to inform them replacement is with cedar.

I am rejecting this response because: The information about 3 year warranty on cedar was never said to me or in writing.  ********** former contractor gave a 20 year warranty, the majority of fence companies warranty on cedar extends longer than 3 years. I purchased a vinyl/composite fence late 2023 (November) and in March 2024 I noticed a portion of the fencing was bowing. As per their website they offer a one year warranty on labor and materials thus I called them March 25, 2024. I submitted pictures of the defected fence and my claim was accepted. As of this writing, May 9, 2024, no one from Peerless fence has contacted me about the status of the warranty claim. I've called several times prior to today but was met with vague answers as to what to expect (was told by customer service that materials were ordered but no ETA as to a repair). Meanwhile the fence has continued to deteriorate. There is no communication from this company to the faulty product they installed and guaranteed (not one phone call to me despite my efforts reaching out to them), and I am left wondering if it will ever be fixed. In short, I was sold a defective fence that barely lasted 6 months and this company with their silence has determined my concern is not a priority despite the guarantee/warranty they offer on their products.

      Business Response

      Date: 05/24/2024

Peerless Fence filed a material warranty claim with ******** Outdoor Living who if the manufacturer of the vinyl fence product, on behalf of customer ***********************************.  The manufacturer deemed that the damage was caused by sun bouncing from an adjacent window directly on the panel.  The manufacturer has agreed to cover the cost of replacing the panel as a one time courtesy as this is something that is typically not covered under warranty.  The new material is to be shipped to Peerless Fence to then schedule install with the customer.  Once we receive the material, we will reach out to the customer to schedule the replacement.  Our Operations Manager, *********************** has attempted to reach out to the customer on two separate occasions to provide an update to the customer:

On 5/16/24 @****** -Called customer and left a message stating we are waiting on material.

On 5/22/24 @12:14pm - Called and LVM for customer stating lead time for material is 2 weeks. Asked him to return my call and discuss what the manufacturer feels has caused damage.

We will continue to attempt follow up with the customer with updates on status of replacing the damaged panel.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Getting a response from the business (in this case the operations manager) was satisfactory since it took over a month for them to reply to my complaint. At the very least, I know now that my complaint wasn't being ignored.

As for the cause of the fence warping, I accept that explanation as plausible.   Perhaps the sales representative in the beginning of the project could have advised me of a potential risk that the fence could be damaged by reflecting sunlight.  Preventive measures on my part could have been taken.

I appreciate the business replacing the damaged fence as a courtesy, and I will wait until I hear back from them to schedule a re-install.

      Sincerely,

This is a terribly unethical company. I spent $25,000 to install an iron fence and my neighbor contracted with Peerless Fence to install a wood fence against my fence. This company violates city ordinances by putting the structural side toward the neighboring property. The owner, *******************, doesnt care about the community, only cares about profits.

Peerless Fence installed a cedar privacy fence on the property of our customer at ********************************* (the next door neighbor of the complainant).  The work was completed according to contract and all within city requirements.  The City passed the fence during the final inspection which is required after completion.

In 2021 we purchased our current house and the previous home owners put at fence in 2018 by Security Fence ** in ****** **. In 2019 Peerless Fence purchased Security Fence **. This year the empty lot next door started construction, when the surveyor came out he let us know that our fence is 16 feet over the property line. I was shocked by this news and got the survey verified. I also called the city permit office to see if a permit was pulled for the fence and it was not. I then messaged the previous home owner to figure out who installed the fence and he told me Security Fence **. I called Security Fence ** and was forwarded to Peerless Fence. They told me they would get the matter resolved. After a few months of back and forth I am not getting any returned calls.I would just like the fence fixed.

Peerless Fence purchased the name and phone number of Security Fence only.  The company itself shut down due to the death of its previous owner. We did not take on any liabilities of the business nor responsibility to previous work completed by the company.  We are happy to have a Rep come out to provide a quote for any work that needs to be completed.
