I made the mistake of purchasing a 2015 Maserati GT from **** ***** site unseen. I purchased the car after **** had sent me some pictures and videos of the car, he also had stated several times that this car was in VERY good condition and even said "you will not find one in nicer condition". I had stated my concerns of buying this vehicle without seeing it many times and had asked that any flaws be pointed out to me before hand. Its a used car I didn't expect it to be perfect but upon arrival I quickly noticed many issues. The front bumper had so many rock chips in it that it has to be totally repainted and cant just be touched up, there are over a dozen rock chips in the windshield, and the most pressing issue is that an entire corner panel of this vehicle has been repainted and does not match the original color of the car as well as the clear coating was peeling off. This vehicle has most likely been in an accident and that was not disclosed to me. Unfortunately it is very hard to see these things on photos and videos which is why I was relying on **** to be truthful with me. This company deals in very high end cars there is absolutely no way this was not a known problem, this is very deceitful to sell a car in this condition. I would be extremely cautious buying a car from this company and from **** without doing a very thorough in person inspection. The company is ignoring my requests for reimbursement on these issues at this time.

On 4/20/2024, I had contacted Chicago Motorcars about a 2018 Porsche 911 Turbo, Stock number JS156983 PS that was advertised for sale. I received a call back from their sales manager, ******************* who indicated that it was still available. I advised him that I had a potential trade in. We arrived at a mutually agreeable price, and I was ready to move forward on the deal, contingent on a Pre-Purchase Inspection (PPI) performed by a independent auto shop of my choice. On Tuesday April23, 2024, I was advised by the auto shop, ******* Autosport that the vehicle had had its catalytic converters removed and had been heavily modified,. This would be a very obvious modification that no reputable dealer could miss. In addition to being a vilolation of Federal and Illinois State environmental laws, this vehicle would also be uninsurable in its current condition. The listing of the car did not indicate the modification and at no point in my conversations or texts with ***** was this pointed out. ***** advised me that the car was a consignment vehicle, and the dealership was not aware of the very obvious modification. This seems disingenuous at best and fraudulent at worst. ***** also claimed to be a self-professed "gear head" who has rebuilt several cars. He stated that his dealership sells these types of heavily modded cars all the time and most emission stations never find out. He further advised me that the original owner was willing to put the factory exhaust back at his expense however only if I bought the car first without the catalytic converters and before any further testing after they were installed. I told ***** that this was a very blatant miss on their part, and I should be reimbursed my PPI fee of $495. I would never have submitted the car for a PPI if Chicago Motor cars had been transparent in their advertising and communications. They would have sold me a car that is not street legal had I not done my due diligence. As I stated below, they in fact have to other customers. Laws mandating catalytic converters were passed in the 1970's but Chicago Motorcars has been apparently flouting them for years. I have also filed a complaint with the Illinois EPA and will be filing with the Illinois AG's office next.

1/19/23 Purchase 2021 **** F150 from Chicago Motor Cars, total purchase price $47198.26. **** was made with salesman ************************, paperwork signed with Finance Manager **********************2/23/23 Received title in mail and attempted to transfer title in my name at ************** brans #***. BMV employees informed me that they would not be able to transfer the title because the bill of sale and purchase paperwork were from Chicago Motor Cars but the name on the title was Karma Naperville. Names must match to be transfer title. Informed ******* by email and phone call that I could not transfer the title and that per BMV employee I needed either a bill of sale from Karma Naperville or a title from Chicago Motor Cars. ******* informed me that he would be begin working on the problem and get back to me.3/3/23 Called ******* because I had not heard from him since 2/23/23. ******* still did not have a solution and said that he would get back to me soon. ******* called back again an hour later stating the Chicago Motor Cars would provide a one and the same letter on company letterhead and that this should allow me to transfer the title to my name.3/7/23 Went to ********** BMV branch #*** to attempt to transfer title. BMV employees informed me that one and the same letter was not acceptable and that reiterated that I would need either bill of sale from Karma Naperville or title from Chicago Motor Cars. Called ******* immediately after leaving BMV to inform him that I was not able to transfer the title and that I would need bill of sale from Karma Naperville or title from Chicago Motor Cars.3/8/23 Spoke with ******* and *** via conference phone call. *** told me that their proposed solution was for me to ship the title back to Chicago Motor Cars where they would modify/alter the title so that the second reassignment section read as Chicago Motor Cars and not Karma Naperville. Chicago Motor cars recieved title on 3/10/23 but have not provided any update.

Im writing in response to **************** concern. As stated, we transacted **************** purchase of his 2021 **** **150 (VIN: *****************) on January 19, 2023. By all indications the transaction was seamless and perhaps very ordinary for our operations. However, we recognize **************** registration procedure has not been the smoothest and in rare moments we have had hiccups with Departments of Motor Vehicles when selling a vehicle over state lines.

We acquired this particular **150 from auction and received the title on time as expected. Our internal transaction process time was quick, and we did provide ************** with the title to the **150 on time at which point the transaction is entirely completed. However the challenge started there for ***************

Our company is Chicago Motor Cars and our new car franchise is Karma Naperville, of which we carry a DBA. Once ************** informed us of the situation with the ******* Bureau of Motor Vehicles, we provided him with a One and the Same form indicating that Karma Naperville and Chicago Motor Cars are one and the same as we would in any similar situation.
We have not run into this with ******* previously and obviously it is never our intention to create any post-sale issues with registration, however we are at the mercy of the state and the employee handling the issue.

I am attaching a copy of the **150s CARFAX report from today April 4, 2023. You will see that ******* issued a title for the **150 on March 17, 2023, title# ************** registered to **********, **. It took longer than anticipated but the title issue has been resolved per *******.

Im also including a copy of the One and the same form that we use in all similar situations. Why Indiana did not accept is is beyond us but had they per our expectation we would have had the transaction concluded with zero issue. I see the situation is resolved per ******* so Im not sure any further action is required. We do appreciate **************** business and if there is any further assistance needed Im happy to personally assist.

      Thank you.

I purchased a vehicle from this dealer on 8/29/2022, (Lamborghini) I put $110,000 down and financed the balance. The dealership has been giving nothing but excuses as to why I still 6+ months later cannot have my vehicle registered so I can drive it, even though its costing me $3000 monthly with payments/insurance.

      Business response

      03/14/2023

This complaint was filed under the incorrect store. ******************** purchased a vehicle from our ************** location back in August of 2022.

******************** was given the option of completing the registration himself and we would provide him with all of the necessary paperwork, or we would handle the registration for him, but there would be a minimum of 8-to-10-week processing time, with his state ***, Connecticut. ******************** stated multiple times that he did not have the time to go to the *** & that he wanted us to take care of it.

The Connecticut ***, like every other state, has specific requirements that need to be fulfilled before a vehicle is registered. ******************** was not willing to complete these requirements in order for us to do the registration for him (VIN Inspection, Emissions & Safety Test). Due to his incompliance, we contacted the SC*** and the bank that funded his deal, and they stated that we had done everything we could possibly do. At that point, the paperwork needed to be requested back from the ***, stamped with a lien from the funding bank, and paperwork mailed to ******************** to complete the registration himself.

It is clear that this is a case of buyer's remorse and ******************** is trying everything he possibly can to get out of this vehicle because he is aware of the significant change in market with Lamborghini Huracans. ******************** tried to go after the SC***, when he realized he wasn't going to get the outcome he expected, he tried to *** the funding bank and reverse his deal and that did not work. Now, he is making false and inaccurate accusations in hopes that he will reverse this purchase but we have done everything by the book and are in compliance in every way.

Please let me know if there is anything else you may need.

      Kind regards,

      *******************
