            ************************* of DPD Smiles performed a dental procedure on my 4 y/o son on March 15, 2024. She "drilled" 9 cavities on my son. The procedure required IV sedation with a contracted pediatric anesthesiologist. The procedure was very brief. I was verbally updated upon completion of procedure that all cavities were filled and no cavities remained. My son had his 6 month visit with his regular dentist on June 24, 2024. Repeat xrays at this time showed continued cavities at previous "drilled" sites. I called ****************** clinic to request forms be sent to my son's primary dentist. I was told there was at $20 record release fee. I informed them this was not going to be paid as it is a continuity of care release from provider to provider. They told me they could use "credit on my account." I was never informed of any "credit" nor was I reimbursed on my credit card. I confirmed there is a $67 credit on the account when I visited the patient portal. I have contacted teh office and not heard back regarding the credit. I was also charged a late fee when there was no signed documentation by me agreeing to pay if I was late.

            The dentist performed an uncovered dental procedure on my child without asking or receiving parental approval. They now claim my child called us and received approval. This is a lie. What is more absurd is the procedure would have been covered had the dentist waited 3 months to perform the procedure, but they did it anyway without checking the dental coverage. They are liars, they are notorious for providing you a cost when you leave the dental office and then sending you a bill for more after you leave with interest! Just horrible people.

            We explained to this patients mother over the phone that these teeth were supposed to be covered and insurance did not notice that they were different teeth, we are in the middle of helping file a narrative for this claim and following up with the insurance for the patient. Additionally, the patients in our office sign our policies and procedures knowing that we do our best to get the most accurate estimate from insurance but everything with insurance is always an estimate as they do not determine coverage until services are rendered. Patients are issuers 2 statement before finance charges are applied and have 30 days from when insurance payment or denial is issued before the finance charge is applied.
