I initially used ***** and his partner ***** for some minor exterior repairs on our home before we were listing for sale and they did a decent job. Im an interior designer, always looking for good contractors, so I had them work on the home we were moving to as well as a client bathroom remodel and eventually a property we bought downtown to rehab. This was tens of thousands of dollars worth of work and all happened in a matter of 6-9 months, so I was really hopeful we were building a working relationship. What I quickly discovered is that what they say they are capable of doing/going to do and what actually gets done are two very different things. ***** and ***** are/were in a band so began showing up extremely late on the jobsite for contractors (10:30/11:00 at the EARLIEST), sometimes smelling of alcohol, and then would be gone by 4:00-4:30 every day and almost always spent an hour+ going to lunch and running to Lowes. At most they were actually working only 4 or 5 hours per day which drug the project on way longer than necessary. They didnt seal/install/repair items correctly on the client job and when I reached out to them about fixing these items, they refused to take responsibility so Ive ended up paying thousands of my own money on that client job to make it right. The downtown project they were working on also turned out to be a disaster. Thousands of dollars worth of RE-work with other reputable contractors on almost everything ***** and his crew did from window and door installation to stairs built and framing that either didnt pass inspection or function properly. On top of all of that, ***** began lying about the situation with/condition of his daughter, so I was constantly trying to help him with extra projects and advance payments (not realizing I was being lied to), even giving him a large advance so he could get a working truck when his car broke down. I really try and support our guys if possible and I thought I was doing a good thing, helping out his family. He never completed the work he was supposed to in exchange for that money and thanks to a neighbors exterior camera, I was able to prove he was lying about the days he was working, the crews he said were on site, etc. In a two week period, he had only been on site for a total of 3 hours, even though he said they had been working every day. The whole ordeal ended in my having the police on site while he removed all of his tools and equipment. I lost thousands of dollars in poor work that needed redone, materials he said he purchased for the job that he never delivered and advances to help a guy out that were never repaid. Ive spent a lot of time debating this review, because of the potential backlash, but I dont want others to make the same mistake and get taken advantage of. Its really a shame that people can do the things they do (lie, steal) and just keep it moving, letting others clean up their messes and deal with the aftermath. If I couldve given zero stars, I would have.
