My car was towed by the business listed, upon picking it up, there was drag damage that the attendant admitted to doing. After following his direction and filing a claim with his corporate office, they found no fault or damage occurred. I presented pictures, the tires were replaced within the last 6 months, and I had a mechanic look at the damage and confirmed it was from being dragged with the brakes still on. I have included pictures where you can see the wear on one wheel, and the blowout showing a lump of dragged rubber. The company insists they towed it like this and I just want the damage they caused by acting carelessly to be repaired. Looking at their reviews this is how they normally handle business and I frankly cant afford 500 dollars on top of the money I paid to retrieve my car.

Location Services, LLC is not the company that towed Mr.****** ************** *********** that was contracted to perform the repossession, disposition, storage, etc. prior to ************** picking up, also known as redeeming, his vehicle is RI, LLC.  RI, LLC is not an affiliate nor any personnel at their locations employees of Location Services, LLC.

At the request of RI, LLC and **************, Location Services has attempted to mediate this dispute as follows:

      1.  We obtained photos and description of the chain of events from ************** that are generally in line with Mr. ****** statement above except the part that a mechanic confirmed it was from being dragged with the brakes still on.  All I show is a quote for new tires at $480.

      2.  We obtained photos and description of the chain of events from RI, LLC which state:  At approximately 01:47 AM on October 13, 2022, I observed a black ****** Corolla, parked in a parking lot adjacent to the apartment building located at **********************************************************************. The car was parked NOSE IN which required the use of tow dollies to remove the unit from the parking spot. The front left tire appeared to be flat, I assembled the tow dollies and safely removed the unit from the parking lot and transported the unit directly to our lot at *********************************************************. All four wheels were never on the ground during recovery / transport. ************** came to the lot on October 21, 2022, at approximately 11:45 AM to redeem the vehicle. He noticed that the tire was flat and asked if I could fill it up with air. After noticing that the air was not holding in the tire, I examined the tire more closely and notice an inside tire wall blow out. I told ************** he would need a new tire, he stated he was aware of it and asked if I could help him replace the tire with the spare. I did remove the flat tire and put the spare on. Customer then signed the release documents and left the property.

      3.  The subject vehicle was repossessed with front end damage.  During the course of the investigation, The customer told me that his brother hit something on the interstate a few weeks before the repossession.  It is likely that a high speed accident may have contributed to excessive tire wear, especially since the customer continued to drive the vehicle after the accident without making repairs.

      4.  The signed release documents by ************** on 10/21/22 at 11:45am with copy of photo ID state:  The undersigned hereby acknowledges receiving and inspecting the vehicle described on this form and finding said vehicle to be in the same condition as when repossessed and all personal property and keys accounted for and hereby releases Location Services and/or their clients and/or agents from any and all claims now and hereafter, whether known or unknown, anticipated or unanticipated.

      5.  It was because of this investigation that resulted in the conclusion of the claim from our perspective as follows:
I have reviewed your statement and the statement received from the repossession agent and do not find that the repossession agent caused your tire to blow out or caused the bald spot on the other.
The repossession agent stated that when he spotted your car to repossess it and got out to look at it he saw that the one tire was flat and he used dollies to lift all four tires off the ground to safely transport the car back to the lot.
The repossession contractor also said that when you came to redeem your car that the tire was flat and you asked if he could fill it with air. He tried and it would not hold air and he told you what he saw was a tire wall blow out and let you know that you needed a new tire and you responded that you knew that. He did put your spare on so you were able to drive the unit from the lot.

We do not feel justified in penalizing the repossession agent RI, LLC from our end based on the evidence at hand.  You are welcome to address this directly with RI, LLC moving forward.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined the response would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

[Provide details of why you are not satisfied with this resolution.]

They admit everything is in line with what I said except for the tow agent admitting error? That's not satisfactory with as much proof as I have submitted, I have gone through the proper channels and am being denied what would be justified for the damage, due to word of mouth? That is not how business is handled. I told the tow agent I parked with my breaks on, his response quote "I know, I couldn't have taken the brake off without the keys" unquote. I was locked in an enclosed repo lot with a clipboard shoved in my face does that sound ethical?

      Regards,

      *************************

10/24/22 My vehicle was repossessed and was sent to Location Services, LLC by the finance company ************** The local branch of Location Services out of *******, ** has had the vehicle and will not give the address to pick up the car. The manager, *****, has fraudulently given several statements of the car being moved several times by the finance company. ************* has denied this. We made an appointment to pick up the car in ******* **, but it was not there. ***** had it moved again! ***** has done this herself trying to steal the car! The car has been paid for, but they still will not give us the location that they took the car to. Which is illegal! I would like to get the car back and the costs that they have put on me, 2 days of unpaid work, the rental car costs and for going to a place where ***** knew the car was not at. Also, If there is a license or accreditation associated with this business, to have it revoked!

While the situation described by ************** is frustrating, there are several inaccuracies to clear up:

      1.  The subject vehicle was recovered on 10/10 in ******** ** by a 3rd party, Best Recovery Services *************************************************************** not Location Services, LLC

      2.  Transport release was issued 10/10, by *************** lienholder

      3.  Unit was transported by 4th party to Americas Auto Auction ************ 5th party, 10/19 as directed by ************** which was 5 days prior to ******************** payment.

      4.  Redemption Release was issued 10/24 as directed by ************** once **************** payment was received.

      5.  Per Americas Auto Auction ************, the vehicle was released to customer 10/28 at the ************ **********************

In resolving this matter it was determined that Americas Auto Auction ************ (5th party), was being shut down and being moved to a different location which involves moving ****s of cars and lead to confusion within the status of their inventory. A Location Services representative was able to investigate on behalf of **************, and found that Americas Auto Auction ************ (5th party), first told the customer the car was not there.   Location Services took further action, called Americas Auto Auction ************ (5th party), and got it straightened out.

It appears that as of the date of this complaint ************** had already received his vehicle back and that any delay was inadvertent and the result of logistics at Americas Auto Auction ************ (5th party).  Location Services was a key factor in expeditiously resolving this matter for **************.
