We entered into a contract with Maurer Speciality Pools and Concrete in Feb 2022. We were told our pool would take 4 weeks to complete depending on weather conditions. After payments totalling over $30,000, the owner has chosen to ignore calls, texts, and even legal threats. *** ***** *** ******** ******** ** ** ****** **** * ***** **** **** *** ************** ******* * ******** ***** ** *** ********* *** ***** This just seems to be how he operates. The owner appears to have illegally entered into a contract with me. His company has been dissolved since 2021. He is not bonded or insured. I have months and months of unanswered text messages. It appears that I have been scammed out of over $30K and will need to seek another contractor to complete this job since the owner has made no attempt to reassure us that this work will ever get done. I am left with a massive hole in the ground with a pool frame. Its unclear whether a permit was ever really applied for. The owner also has not properly secured the area with any sort of temporary fencing which puts us at risk if a person or animal were to fall in. If this work is not complete, I will continue down the path of a lawsuit and a full page ad in the local ************** and SW ******** newspapers warning others of this owners actions and to solicit another pool company to help finish this job.

In November of 2019, we signed a contract with ******* Maurer of Maurer Specialty Pools and Concrete to put an inground pool in our backyard. In January of 2021, his company broke ground on our pool. Then in August of 2021, we paid **** Maurer the final installment of $15,945. This made a grand total of $57,892 paid out to his company. As of June 2022, his company has still not finished. We are still in need and waiting on the: liner, heater, filter, pump, electrical, and auto-cover. In talking to other people in the community, he has started other peoples pools after ours and is farther along or finished with their projects. We cannot get him to return any calls or texts. We were told wed be swimming by July of 2021. Then we were given his word wed be swimming by April of 2022. I even reached out to retain an attorney, and she informed me that shes already suing him on behalf of another client and is having no success. Ive filed a complaint with the Attorney General in ******* and I have talked several times to the St. ****** County Building Commissioner. My sister was born with a genetic condition called Osteogenesis Imperfecta. She uses a wheelchair and has had over 200 broken bones in her lifetime. She continues daily to struggle with this condition. Water therapy has shown very positive results for people with her disability. Unfortunately, because of her condition her life expectancy isnt that of most people. So, seeing the ridiculous amount time wasted on the finalization of this pool really upsets me. In spite of my sisters condition, she became an elementary school teacher and just retired after teaching 25 years. She used a chunk of her teacher retirement investment to fund this pool. We feel like we have reached out to all the proper resources in an attempt to remedy this tremendous disappointment. Do you have any other suggestions, recourse, or actions we could take?
