On 5/3/22 we paid *********************/Perfect Touch Painting $1400 cash deposit to paint the interior of our home. His start date would be Monday, 5/16/22 but he would let us know. My husband texted him Sunday,May 15th to touch base and find out what time he would come to our house the next day. He did not respond. Monday,5/16/22, I called him at 6:40AM to ask if I should be leaving a key under the mat bc we had not heard from him but no answer so I left a message. By 10am, I still had not heard from him so I called him again.My message was now showing concern and urgency as I reminded him he had our $1400! He texted me back saying he had Covid, had been sick for the last week, has 2 houses to finish before ours and his quarantine was over May 29th.We did not hear from him for 2 days, Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday,May 19th around 10AM, I texted him and told him we needed to know a date of when he could even start our house bc we were going on vacation and it may pose a problem and to get back to me ASAP. We did not receive a call, so Friday,May 20th, my husband left him a message asking him to call him back. By Saturday,May 21st at 12:00PM, we still had not heard from him. I then called and left a message and so did my husband. My son contacted **** girlfriend and told her that his parents were getting upset bc *** had not contacted us. Within 5 minutes, *** sent us a text. We told him at that point, there were not confident with him doing the job and we would like a full refund. He said he was not able to give us a full refund bc he had already bought our paint/materials and he could give us the materials and the balance of the refund. We asked him to send us a copy of that paint invoice/receipt. He did not make any contact with us until 6pm that evening. Instead of sending the paint receipts, he sent us another quote taking $200 off our original quote. I explained to him that if he could not provide a receipt we would be taking the next legal step.
