Bought a car from S&H less than 5 months ago and have been going round with them the entire time! I was lied to about everything pertaining to the car, what the warranty covered, how the car would provide me with a car if mine had to be serviced. They ignored me, messaged me personally when I gave them a review. The car is about to be on the side of the road and I owe $14,000 and traded my jeep in that was worth $8,000. The salesman who sold the car to me and lied his **** off has since been fired! They promised to fix something and wont. I dont know what else to do. And I see from many others this is a normal practice! How do they have an A- !?

The carfax and autocheck are two different reports that helps the consumer and dealers see the vehicle history.  In our experience the Carfax reporting is more detailed as to why we spend the extra money to be a carfax advantage dealer.  If the customer is trying to trade in the vehicle, than we can look at those options.  If there is a major service issue that occurred after a few months of the sale, then our service department can assist with discounted rates for the customer.

We purchased a vehicle from S&H ********** with a Carfax, we were told the car was parked and got scraped on the drivers side, only has cosmetic issues. Just 6 months later we are looking to trade it in for a 6 cylinder, and ee submitted the car online for a trade in. It came back as non tradable because it has a cracked frame. That was a complete shock to me, mechanics won't fix it , because it's illegal. Every dealership rejects the car as non tradable, so S&H KNEW OF THIS yet cared less ,still sold it to us.The salesman Chino advised that we sell the car to an individual. That's a WRONG mind set , WRONG attitude, knowing it's hazardous, and having no problem passing it on to someone else,so they'd risk their lives and other people's lives being on a road in a car that's not safe. Do NOT buy vehicles from these people! The entire dealership is avoiding me , and there's a good reason for it. They lied, they are guilty and don't want to face the consequences. How do they sleep at night robbing us of our money, my other son is 28, handicap with stroke. We have a car ,a total loss, they refuse to even make it right .I'm not asking the entire $7000 back , but at least some compensation, we are out my son's entire savings gone.

***************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************; This is a link to the carfax which does not state an issue with the vehicle not being tradable.  We are more than willing to help trade this customer out, as she has been misinformed by what appears to be other dealerships.  We have already told the customer that we would attempt to trade the customer out to get something else.  Let us know how the customer would like to proceed.  We can't control what other dealerships are telling the customer, however the vehicle is 100% able to be traded in for something else.

I am rejecting this response because:

We have submitted the case for a trade in ,and the result came back as non tradable .

We can only junk the car at this point. The Carfax is a complete lie, it's a tool to manipulate buyers. I'm trying to get Driveway.com release me a copy of the statement with the actual problems the vehicle has. It's near IMPOSSIBLE that Every dealership in the area USES Auto check, every every dealership KNOWS the problem with the car,but conveniently S& H didn't. The buyers MUST be aware of how this dealership operates. They have no problem putting people in hazardous cars, taking their entire savings, getting them into debt.  I would not go back to their parking lot for another trade in, especially when Chino / salesman told me ,well I could get $500 for this car. Now why ONLY $500??? The car should be worth a lot lot more as a trade in.  They clearly know the vehicle is junk.  Probably purchased on an auction/ which is fine if they fix vehicles to be safe on the road. A curtsey call from the owner would have been nice. Reaching out and trying to help, even if they didn't mean it. Just act as if they care. But me chasing them , being rejected is not how you treat customers. If I'm one of the few that has this problem, then they should address the problem, if they simply have too many customers complaining then they are running a shady business. I'll be back with proof that the car is non tradable. There is a picture of the frame with a crack in it too. Just awful

      08/01/2024

I am rejecting this response because:there is no way to trust this dealership. Sadly, I didn't research enough before the purchase. Dealers known to buy vehicles at auction for a resale cannot know anything about a car. The Auto check is actually more detailed, obviously, because it revealed more facts about the car. Every dealership I called for advice as to what to do, admitted they use BOTH engines,Carfax and Auto check. I was in a whirlwind of despair to run to every possible source for an advice just because the owner/ manager at S&H  completely ignored my cries for help. A courtesy call would have been better than anything. At least show they care even if they don't. It's strictly a money making business with lack of care. Hiding from the customer means they are guilty of purposely hiding information. Otherwise it's easy to call and guide the customer to some solution. We tried to have a car fixed, spent another couple thousand on it, and it was still overheating. Finally the head gasket was a probable cause , or a cracked engine to which we had to junk the car. The pain was overwhelming as they picked up the car from my driveway, I still cry just thinking about it. We worked hard ,and for a long time to get the cash together, even tho the car wasn't "that expensive".Honesty must be present to a point even in this kind of business. We would never go back to this dealership and we highly advise others not to shop at any of their places. It's not just the junky cars they sell with no problem,it's the aftermath of keeping the customer in check. Getting involved, trying to help, be there.Dont wait for a "bad review",and then reach out, do it immediately. People buy brand new vehicles and sometimes, and they are a lemon , doesn't mean the dealership just brushes it off. Communication is the key, and we feel highly neglected.

Bought the truck on 1/22/24. Paid $2,100 for the down payment for it. Starting having issues with it around the end of February. Took it to a mechanic on 3/5/24 and paid $109 for it. Have not had an outcome or a resolution since that day. S&H has been dodging my phone calls and have not given me a call back in regards to it. It has been at their dealership since 3/15/24.

On January 22nd , 2024, the Complaint, ***********************, did purchase a 2008 **** -150 with a snowplow package attached. She also purchased a Service Contract in addition to the automobile purchase.  On March 15th, ****** did come to S&H ********** to let us know of her issue she was having. After getting her vehicle to us on March 26th , 2024 , We began the process of inspecting her truck to figure out the issue. Also, during this time, we were in contact with the third-party service contract company.  After realizing they do not cover trucks with a snowplow attached, also speaking with ******, I had her warranty canceled and her $4000 refunded to her as she agreed to. Since she took an installment loan through an automobile lending institution, to purchase this vehicle, she had not paid the $4000 for the warranty herself. The bank paid for it. So, we sent the check to the loan company, and it was applied to her account.

There are 3 different places she signed knowing this vehicle was sold as is. The service contract was purchased in addition to the automobile. I do feel that once the error of the service contact was found out we did the right thing by issuing a refund. We also are willing to assist ****** in trading her truck she purchased.

Purchase of my Audi was on 1/17/24. When I picked up the vehicle the check engine light was on. The co owner of the business saw this first and had service clear the code. He informed me if I had any other issues let him know. There was a note about the brakes needing to be checked. I drove the vehicle back to another location and decided to purchase the vehicle with the understanding that the problems would be fixed. After less than a week the low oil light came on, I added oil and called the salesman *****. He instructed me to make a appointment with service to have it taken care of. **** than a week later the oil light came back on, this time I texted the salesman and he responded and told me service would take care of me. I dropped off the car, the repaired the brakes and did a oil change, then informed me of a oil leak at the timing chain cover. They wanted to quote me a price to fix it. I explained the conversation with ***** and he assured me that it would be fixed, they refuse to fix the vehicle without charging me for the repair. The average cost for this repair is between $1,000.00 and $1500. I've had the car less than 2 weeks. I've reached out to the owner, sales manager, etc... I've been told they are not going to do anything about the problem unless I pay for it. I've been hung up on a long with my wife being yelled at by *****, no return calls from the managers or owners. Now I'm stuck with a car with a major repair needing done and haven't even made the first payment yet. This dealer needs to be removed from the BBB and held responsible for their actions. It's not hard to make the problem right and fix the car.

Customer was aware of the check engine light code and expressed to S&H that he was a mechanic.  Agreed to fix brakes on we owe form which was signed by customer and S&H, with nothing else to be addressed.

I am rejecting this response because:  It is also stated on the we owe that if the check engine light came back on it would be addressed also.  There was absolutely no work done on the car by the dealership.  I am taking it to be fixed this week and was already informed the brakes were not fixed as the dealership said they were.  Other than the we owe I have several text from the salesman saying that it would be taken care of.  Not to mention the salesman having to delete post on social media because of things he has said.

      Customer response

      03/13/2024

I am rejecting this response because:
As I have said before I was told it would be taken care of.  I just paid out $165 last week for the brakes to be fixed that you told me was fixed.  Now the car is going back into the shop to possibly have a new motor put in it.  As I have been saying, you and your salesman straight up lied to me.  Nothing was inspected and nothing was ever done to the car.  I want the cost of these repairs covered by your company and also my list time for it having to be in the garage so much for repairs.

We found a used Porsche for sale on ***********com at ***********, in ******* **, applied for credit, was approved, and drove to *********** the next day. Along the 4-hour trip, we asked ********************* to make sure the car was in good working order to go back to WI, as its a 4 hour trip. **** assured us nothing was wrong with the car and it was good to go. Upon our arrival, we test drove the car and found the a/c was not working, it had a major clunk when steering, the low tire light was on, and upon returning to the dealer from our short test drive, it was dripping antifreeze. **** said the a/c worked earlier that day, the steering clunk was because its an all-wheel drive vehicle, and the coolant was because they topped off the fluids. They discounted the car because of the a/c and we purchased it, and drove back to WI without any issues. The very next day the car started overheating, continued to leak coolant. We took it into a local repair shop where they found the car had been in an accident prior to our purchase and that it needed $4600 of repairs because of the accident damage. It needs a a/c compressor, a/c condenser, right axle, right steering link, radiator cap, and rear tire pressure sensors. At first S&H said to provide them an estimate and they would take care of it. Once we gave them the estimate, now they are not going to fix it. They lied about the vehicle being in an accident, lied about the "safety inspection" they said they did on the vehicle, lied about the a/c (as we're told it looks like it hasn't worked for months), lied about topping off the fluid and lied about the steering clunk. ********************* told us to our face that they don't lie to customers; all the while lying. We felt taken advantage of because we were from out of state. They sold us a vehicle with known issues that they did not disclose these issues to us, rushed us through the buying process, told us they would take care of the issues, and now they refuse to pay or buy the vehicle back from us.

I bought my 2016 ****** Versa from the ******* location on 10.22.22. It has been 2 months and I still do not have registration or license plates for my car. I have called several times and now the business is not returning any of my phone calls. The temp plates they put on my car expired 2 weeks ago. It the businesses responsibility to supply the needed documentation to the Secretary of State in a timely manner so that I get my plates in time. I have to travel out of town for work in a few weeks and I have no plates on my car. I have called the Secretary of State here in ******** several times to see if they could shed some light on the situation and they told me that on 11.16.22 the title was processed is someone else's name. I can also see in my Carfax app that a correction was made to the vehicle on that date so I know that to be true. That's less than a month after I purchased the vehicle from S&H. So I'm sitting with a car in my possession that I'm making payments on, that is in someone else's name and I can not drive because these people have not done what they needed to do to get me my plates. At this point I think they should make my car note payments until this fixed. This is poor customer service and there have to be some laws/rules, time limits on when dealers have to get things like this taken care of. I'm going to be doing some further research and seeing who else I can reach out to because the business is not responding to any of my messages and I have been calling since about a week and half before my temp plate expired. They don't seem to care what an inconvenience this is.

      Business response

We apologize for your inconvenience, however your title has been processed.  Sometimes there can be delays with title paperwork and the ******** Secretary of State is not going to tell you it's their fault.  Your paperwork has been in ******* at the Secretary of ***************** since 11/22/2022 and once it is there, we have no control on the process.  It is processed and you can get your plates.

My husband and I have purchased two vehicles from them. Both having issues within a 24 hr period. We didnt think anything about the first vehicle having issues as it was an older car and cheaper. We tried to get them down on the price of the Jeep because it obviously had issues but all appeared to be cosmetic. After all was said and done we decided to get it as the issues although a few did not seem to affect driving it. Cracked windshield, back door stiff making it difficult to open and close and a few other minor things. The most recent purchase was a 2010 Jeep. The most severe issue could have been deadly. Later in the evening that we bought it, it was making a strange noise and still is. We have to find a mechanic here to get it in.The calipers were replaced before we bought the Jeep. They were brand new from what the mechanic told me that made the repair. Two tires were loose as were two of the calipers. The Jeep started shimmying the rim was destroyed as I was driving down the interstate. If it had not been for this I would have just let it gone and avoided this company. The amount spent for towing, repairs and lodgings was ridiculous. Although I was sent off the road I was able to keep it under some control and grateful I was driving and not less experienced driver. This company needs to be held accountable for their *** inspections and mechanic work.

I want reimbursement for the repairs, towing and hotel as well as for them Toto pay to have the Jeep looked over by an authorized Jeep dealership paying for any and all major repairs that could be potentially dangerous. The mechanic who did the work could find what was making the noise that started the night we bought the Jeep. I dont want anything similar to happen again. As well, I need the paperwork to get my tags. It has been over 31 days.
