Our boat had been at Mills Body Shop in Newburgh for over 5 months waiting to be repaired for exterior damages due to a tornado that hit our property. My husband noticed by driving by on his way to work one morning the cover had been removed so he stopped to see what had been done. When he got inside the boat he discovered all of our stereo, speakers, amps and hundreds of dollars worth of tools had been stolen and the thieves also trashed our boat with our personal belongings. When we alerted the management of Mill's they informed us they were not responsible, did not call the police, and told us we'd have to call our insurance to handle it. My husband called for the sheriff to come take a report and assess the scene. The GM and Owner both informed us and the sheriff they do not have cameras in their back parking lot where vehicles are waiting for repair. They had one camera on the front door of their office but nothing else. They repeatedly told us this theft was not their problem and there was nothing they were going to do about it. When we told them we wanted to take our boat off their property and to a different repair shop to complete the repairs; the owner informed us it would be several hours before he could get our bill ready and cars moved out of the way. My husband went back several hours later and they had the boat ready for us and took 50% off our bill. The point of my complaint is to warn future and current customers of Mill's that they do not have ANY security cameras on their inventory and they do not consider themselves responsible if your vehicle is broken into while its in their care/custody/control. Their customer service is not what we expected from a family owned business. We are devastated by what took place at this establishment and the lack of empathy, concern or help from the staff.
