    HELP! I had my transmission rebuilt while out of town at the Evansville, IN AAMCO on 1/5/24 ($5100). I picked it up on 1/11/24 and drove it home to Indianapolis. Soon after, I noticed a leak coming from the cooler lines and the bell housing. I also noticed a slippage between 3rd and 4th gear. I took the truck to my local AAMCO in Indy on 1/16/24. They confirmed the leaks and told me they would have to take the transmission back out to repair it. They replaced the converter, valve body, pump bushing, filter and front seal. As far as the slippage /flare, they told me that the new computer may take a bit to learn the shifting pattern and to give it some time. I picked the truck up on 1/26/24. The slippage/flare continued well past when I was told it should subside. I took my truck back up to the Indy AAMCO on 2/9/24. I got **** ****(owner of Indy shop) involved at that point. He drove the truck and confirmed the flare. he hooked the truck to a computer and collected some data that also confirmed the slippage. **** said he thinks it is something internally within the transmission that is causing the issue. He got in contact with the Evansville, IN shop (******) to try to come up with some sort of resolve. I was told they will be taking the transmission out for a THIRD time on Monday morning (2/19/24),and sending it back to Evansville for repairs (170 miles away). Evansville replaced a seal that they thought was causing the problem and sent it back to Indy on 2/21/24. The trans was installed, and **** took it for a test drive on 2/23/24. He told me the same problem(slippage) is still present. So now it is looking like the transmission will have to be taken out for a FOURTH time. I’m at a loss at this point. AAMCO has now had my truck for a total of 30 days and counting. I have been very patient up to this point, but this is unacceptable. I NEED HELP! I rely on my truck for work and need it back in good working order as soon as possible. ****** ************

    I took my wife's car in to have it checked for leaks, they found the leak that I initially found and instead of replacing the cover they replaced the whole transmission, charged me $2000. Said it had a 30 day warranty so about 5 days later the transmission went out and I had it towed back to them, they said they'd honor the warranty and replace the transmission and I didn't hear from them for about a month, then they call and tell me they want to refund $900 to charge me $2200 for a rebuild. This is not how warranties work.

    We appreciate you bringing this concern to our attention, and we understand the frustration you have
    gone through with your vehicle. As we initially discussed the repair for your vehicle, we gave you 3
    options. The 3 options were a remanufactured transmission (our best option also the highest price), a rebuilt transmission (also a good option) and a used transmission (the least reliable choice and least expensive). The used transmission only comes with a 30-day parts warranty. This option does not include towing or labor. You decided to go with the used option, and I explained this is the most cost-effective solution but also the highest risk. We finished the installation and the transmission checked out fine and shifted well. The first used transmission failed within the 30-day warranty. We did replace the unit free of charge and included the labor, but we did not cover the towing which had been explained to you was not included. Unfortunately, the used transmission that we received failed twice.

    Finally, we gave you the option to apply the credit from the used transmission toward a rebuilt
    transmission. This option includes a full warranty of 18 month or 18,000 miles on parts and labor. You chose to go with this option with an additional cost to you of $2400.00. This was discounted $1000.00 from the original cost of the used transmission that we applied to toward the repair.
    On January 25, 2022, you authorized the final repair and the additional cost to you. We finished building the unit and after several attempts to reach you with no response from you. Finally, after several weeks on Friday, February 18, 2022, you called and said you had decided you did not want to do the repair andasked for a refund. At this time, we have invested the time and money into this repair which was approved by you. We look forward to hearing from you and hopefully we can resolve this situation.

    Their response is in whole an absolute lie, their document doesn't list terms of the warranty it just says warranty in which they didn't honor. Next they were not authorized to do any rebuilding of any transmission, they were authorized to take the transmission apart and determine if it was rebuildable. I am not permitted to give further authorization being it's my wife's car and therefore her decision. They also stated they would give a refund on the warrantied transmission then bill me an additional $2200 for a rebuild which wasn't part of the warranty. I have submitted this complaint to the Indiana attorney general's office with the outcome desired which is they repair the vehicle under the prescribed warranty and no other charges.
