1 star1. The "Freedom" of High Interest Rates: They promise you freedom, but what you get is financial bondage at interest rates so high, they might as well rename themselves "******* Federal Credit Union." You'll be paying off your vacation to Debt Island for the rest of your life! 2. The Fee Bonanza: Oh, the fees! There's a fee for breathing near your card, a fee for looking at it, and a fee for even thinking about using it. They've got more fees than a medieval tax collector. My favorite? The "we just felt like charging you" fee. 3. The Approval Process - A Joke: Getting approved feels like winning the lottery, but then you realize the prize is a one-way ticket to Debtville. They approve you, but the credit limit? It's like they're handing out Monopoly money. $300? Wow, I can almost buy a sandwich with that! 4. Customer Service - Where Logic Goes to Die: Calling customer service is like dialing into the void. If you do get through, you're greeted by someone who's been trained in the art of circular conversations. They're experts in not solving your problems while making you feel like you're the one who's hard to deal with. 5. The Rewards Program - More Like Punishment Program: Their rewards? Ha! It's like they reward you with the honor of paying more fees. You'd earn more points by collecting bottle caps. I once got a "reward" of a 1% cash back - after a year of spending, I could afford... a stick of gum! 6. The Security - Or Lack Thereof: They ask for so much personal information, you start to wonder if they're planning to clone you. And when there's fraud? It's like they've never heard of it. "Fraud? What's that?" they say, while your account is being drained faster than my patience. 7. The Misleading Terms: The terms and conditions are written in "Scam Speak." Sign up for one thing, get something entirely different. It's like ordering a steak and getting a rubber chicken. They change terms faster than a chameleon on a disco ball.Review fromG. G.

1 starI tried to work with this institution but unfortunately, they don't care. I closed out a loan and they did not stop the automatic withdrawal. The due date came and they withdrew the loan amount leaving my account short. I called them and they admitted the account was not closed and they closed it. I ask them to send me my money back and they said we don't have it when clearly they took it out. The account is now closed, and the draft amount was rejected so they told me it was my banks responsibility to track the money. They took no responsibility for their issue. My bank tells me they have disputed the withdrawal but it could take up to 45 days to see my money. I am sure if i had LFCU's money they would want it but they took mine and don't care if i get it back or not. When i get my money back all my dealings with this bank will be closed. Their customer service is terrible.Review fromKaitlyn G

2 starsThey are friendly, and I do like their APP. The downside is big though. Their BillPay is awful. They use a third party to process their bill pay and they do a horrible job. If I have an ACH (digital) payment then it is made overnight as it should be. However when a payment must be processed by check and USPS, Liberty’s third party issuer only allows 2 days from the time of mailing. The APP asks for “delivery date”. My assumption is that means “what date is the latest this payment should arrive?”. Nope. They mail the payment 2 days before the desired delivery date. And they mail them out of Pennsylvania. My other bank, ***, allows 7 business days. Liberty allows 2, and then I get late fees. Their only suggestion was for me to set my delivery date a few days earlier. Their unpredictability is unprofessional, so back to ONB I shall go.Review fromMatt D

1 starDO NOT GET A LOAN THROUGH THIS BANK. THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF. I've never written a BBB complaint before in my near 40 years of life, but feel like I have to. DO NOT get an auto loan through Liberty Federal Credit Union. They are unethical, they do not help, and will scam you at every possible turn they can. I made multiple large payments online (10X the monthly amount) to pay the loan off since they do not offer payoffs through the online portal and nobody answers the phone when you call them. After the payments were made, they updated my account to say my next payment was in June, 60 days after paid 2/3 of the loan in multiple chunks. During that time, they reached out with refinance offers since I was going to pay off the loan in 2 years. I told them my intent was to pay off the loan. When June would come around, I would only have two big chunk payments left then the loan was toast in July. When I went to make the June payment, they accrued interest every day they TOLD me NOT to make a payment. They added $2K back on the principal! The portal said nothing - only when the next payment was due. Their portal said no payment was due. They added ~20% of the remaining balance back on the loan for a loan with a low interest rate - and used their online portal reminders to make sure interest was accruing and I did not make a payment. Completely blindsided. When I talked to the woman at Liberty on the phone, she hung up on me. I was calm, I was stating how their policies and merchandising in the portal was misleading. And she just hung up. Banks exist to bank. It's theft. A Big bank won't do this to you - but this scam bank will. And has ZERO customer care. DO NOT get a loan through this bank. DO NOT.Review fromSua M

1 starThroughout my loan, 90% was going very well. Then as I came to payoff the loan, the online gave me a "payoff" amount and I paid that amount. I waited patiently for my Title and nothing was coming. Close to 4 weeks go by and I call to ask "where is my title", their response was you have a balance of less than $10.00 to pay off. I mentioned, "I paid the amount online that said payoff amount". Their response; "we do not allow the accounts to be paid off on line". That was total BS; I paid off another recent car loan and did not have this issue at another CU. They never informed of this or to even mention to call to payoff.Review fromAdriana J

1 starThis Bank is crap they do not help you. Do not believe anything they say. they are ANTI-LGBTQIA they actively encourage deadnaming of clients refuse to allow you to change the name on your title even after receiving documentation that shows you had a court ordered name change and a marriage. they update the name on the loan just fine as they Really want that money but they want to try to cause harm by forcing people to out themselves in order to pay annual personal property tax as the name on the title has to match so you get to get assaulted thanks to Liberty Federal Credit unions actions. do not bank here go anywhere elseReview fromKaren C

1 starDO NOT ever ever do business with Liberty Federal Credit Union with a car loan!!! They have all kinds of unethical practices and no matter how you try to resolve a problem with them, you might as well be hitting your head against a wall, they just charge you for every little thing and will not work with you to resolve any issue, and when they say they will, then they go back on their word and refuse to honor what they said. It is no wonder they have such a low customer review rating. I would give them a minus 0. They are terrible. You would be better off to go with a loan shark!Review fromJohn W

If you want them to set up automatic payments for your loans without notifying you, this is the place to go. And afterwards was told that they couldn’t do anything about avoiding the bounce check fee that they caused. The worst experience I have had with any financing company I’ve ever used. Would recommend everyone avoid them and use placing like ***** Credit Union.Liberty Federal Credit Union

The member set up all of the recurring payments himself and emailed the credit union regarding the problem. LFCU staff offered to assist and provided a phone number for him to call with the details so that we could help resolve the problem. Credit union records indicate the member never responded. As a courtesy to the member, LFCU waived the loan payment return fee. Please contact me with any further questions or concerns. Thank you.
