Front desk check in person ***** ******** was very rude upon finding out that my injured daughter had Indiana medicaid. She insisted that my daughter needed to be referred by her pcp before being seen in the urgent care for an injury to her foot. After stated we have been seen here before in urgent care she stated out loud she needs help from someone. Then walked off and came to realize as she is a minor she doesn’t need a referral and continued our check in process. She gave me extreme attitude when asked for a copy of my insurance card after stating she looked it up in the system. I feel very discriminated against for having Medicaid. She then shouted for me to have a good day at the end of our registration. As one of the first faces I saw upon arrival to orthopedic associates that did not set a good face to the company. I am very upset by this and would like to be contacted.Business response

The interaction described is certainly not what we expect from the staff and providers at Orthopaedic Associates. It sounds like your child did receive the care needed so you may not need anything other than to have your complaint voiced. I will speak with the front desk in general and the person you named in specific about the interaction. Please know about 10% of our patients have Medicaid insurance, so you're not alone nor should you expect to be treated differently because of your insurance. Many of the managed care Medicaid products do require a referral, but we have forced them to waive those requirements for children. Thank you for sharing the complaint.Customer response
