It took several attempts to get the company to finish the job first of all. Once they did the roof there was a piece of our siding missing, part of our deck was broken, they left a mess each time they were here and moved things and did not put them back, broke decorations we had for holidays, our hot tub lid had punctured areas and scratches all over it. We paid them most of what we owed less **** and I told the girl that I wanted to see how much it was going to cost to replace the things that were broken and I would pay the rest if it was less than the ****. The girl told my husband she would get back to him and never did and then we receive a certified letter that they put a lien on our home for ******************************************************** never received an apology, nothing. Now we have to hire an attorney to get this resolved. This is absolutely rediculous to say the least. I am so disappointed with the way the whole thing was handled.Business response

It is with deep regret that we arrived at a situation where the customer was unhappy with the performance of our company. The removal of the existing roof can at times be disruptive and this can be compounded based upon access. There was discussion of damage to a hot tub cover and deck structure. It was our belief that we did not cause these issues, however I recognize that we are not perfect and mistakes can happen. Clearly we could have done a better job on the cleanliness during the process. I have addressed this issue with our field staff. In regard to communication I will also admit that we can do better in this area. I do know we left multiple messages and did not receive a call back until the lien was filed. It is a very rare event for us to file a lien and is really a last resort. I believe we could have worked this out without filing the lien but the date was closing for allowing the lien to be filed.
I am happy to report we have settled with the customer and come to terms. A final invoice with a agreed reduced amount has been paid in full. The lien has been released and documentation provided to the customer. All warranties associated with the project will be honored.

06/23/22 We were promised a new roof on the house and garage that I chose, not what they put on. I came home to see the roof a totally different shingle than I chose. They told ** that they would take care of everything, close to 10 things and basically all they did was put the wrong roof on my house, fix a corner of gutters and then they deliver a pallet of the same wrong shingles on our driveway with a box of nails. As you can see in the photos they are still there. I have gotten no resolution from this company and just received this bill which is so wrong in so many waysBusiness response

In processing the claim we believe we have operated in good faith but acknowledge the disappointment encountered by the customer. We believe this started when the insurance adjustor made promises in the field at the conclusion of the inspection that did not translate into approved items on the insurance document. We spent months negotiating for these additional approvals that were initially promised by the insurance company. We understand the delay in resolution can be very frustrating the the homeowner. As a effort to provide a positive gesture from our company we delivered shingles at our cost to the home for a re-roof of the garage. This was not part of our agreement and not paid for by insurance. We paid for these additional shingles. The final and perhaps most disappointing event is the sincere belief from the homeowner that we installed the wrong color shingles. We understand the frustration with this but believed we did install the correct color shingles based upon information provided to us from our salesperson. These is no incentive for us to install the wrong color shingles. However, in an effort to bring this issue to a conclusion and make an attempt to create a positive outcome for the customer we are going to forgive our final balance of $7,111.91. We are also going to pickup the complementary shingles we delivered for the garage and deliver new shingles for the garage based on their choice at the same or similar grade. Based on a mutual agreement this resolves all outstanding issues.Customer response

We had roof damage due to a hailstorm that passed through. Republic Roofing representatives came by, and told us we would have an insurance claim, which turned out to be 100% true, so we signed paperwork (we still have the original contract - the only contract signed by ** (***************** and *************************)). According to the only signed contract, after the work was done, we would owe $1.855.12. During work, the relationship between Republic Roofing and ** went downhill (things not being done the way we were told, and things we signed for that were not done at all until we pushed them to come out and finish). To this day 100% of the work is not done. It's a small thing but the cap on the chimney was never put on. Republic Roofing put in a claim to the insurance company. The representative with the insurance company hinted about Republic charging for work that was not done, so I got curious and conveyed to Republic that I want a line by line item list of exactly what they claimed they did and once received I was going to provide it to the insurance company and compare the two to make sure everything was the same (insurance company records and my own). The line-by-line item list never arrived. I emailed and emailed and called and called with no response. A few months later I get a letter from a law firm Republic Roofing hired. It was an attempt to collect. The straw that broke the camel's back was that Republic Roofing decided they wanted $8,576.30 as opposed to the $1.855.12 we agreed to and signed off on. Nothing was signed after the first day that went to Republic Roofing. I contacted the law firm ********************* (firm Republic Roofing hired) stating that all I wanted was a line-by-line detailed report of what Republic Roofing stated they did, as we originally requested. ****** of ***** conveyed the request. No letter was ever received on my end. I believe Republic committed insurance fraud. Hope you can help.Business response

The claim made by the customer ***************** and ************************* is factually not correct and is without merit. On July 9th 2021 Republic Indy, LLC (DBA Republic Roofing) enter into an agreement to complete construction work at ***********************************************************************. This agreement was based upon an insurance Statement of Loss from ************************ due to storm damage on 6/18/2021. The customer repeatedly asks for a line item breakdown when they are well aware the Statement of Loss provides the line item breakdown they seek (Original Statement of Loss Attached). This is demonstrated by the signed agreement referencing specific line items to be excluded from the agreement. The Statement of Loss is the line item by line item Republic Scope of Work provided. Our agreement dated 7/9/2021 represented the Statement of Loss with adjustments made for additions (additional work not insurance related) and exclusions from the insurance Statement of Loss. This is extremely clear on the agreement and without dispute. As with all insurance work we have the right and obligation to request a supplement from the insurance company to make monetary adjustments to the line items in the claim if we find incorrect quantities or price changes for material or labor. These are requests and only if approved by the insurance company are they paid and due to Republic. In addition, the insurance company may list code upgrades on the Statement of Loss that are not included in the initial Replacement Cost Value (RCV) but are added when we provide proof the code upgrade was completed. This occurred on line #7 of Statement of Loss dated 4-13-2022. For this claim #*********-01 a supplement of $3,939.75 was approved and a Paid When Incurred (PWI) of $721.89 recovered. This is evidenced by the most recent Statement of Loss from Liberty Mutual dated 4/13/2022 (Attached). For the breakdown of these charges in specific line items I would refer the customer to their insurance company as this is the source of the line item breakdown they seek. In regard to the necessity to engage our attorney in this matter it is always deeply disappointing and occurs in less than 1% of our customer accounts. This happened in this case for the following reasons.
1. Customer refused to respond or communicate.
2. Customer refused to assist ** to engage with the insurance company to provide clarity to the final numbers.
3. The customer was rude, demanding, and uncooperative. After our calls were being repeatedly ignored in our efforts to review and finalize our final invoice, an owner visited the home and was spoke to rudely and dismissed through a ring doorbell. We then made additional attempts to resolve the matter but to no avail. At that point we had no choice but to engage legal representation to represent ** in this matter.
I also want to address the claim of a chimney cap not being installed. To be clear there is no line item on the insurance document for a chimney cap and so it was not in our Scope of Work to install a chimney cap and we have not charged for the installation of a chimney cap. The only chimney related item was an addition to the contract for chimney flashing. This is where the roof and chimney meet and has nothing to do with a chimney cap.
Also,I have conducted an internal interview with the field manager on the project and he informed me that ************ commented on the high quality of the work and cleanliness upon completion. The field manager also informed me that we replaced several 4X8sheets of rotten roof decking for which we did not charge the customer.
Our balance due stands. We remain open to resolving the matter with the customer through direct respectful dialog. This could best be achieved by reviewing the latest documents from the insurance company. Absent of that possibility we would prefer our attorney handle the matter.

Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined the response would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
[I am not satisfied with the resolution because you took the company at their word. I provided proof, proof. They provided nothing but words and you will accept that?? That is not at all responsible BBB. I can sit here and write up a fancy letter and send it to you and you would believe it? You have been of no help whatsoever. In fact, I have wasted my time and energy having faith in you. How on Earth could you believe words in an email without proof? How on Earth can you do that? Are you here to help the consumer or the business? You are either ill equipped or complacent BBB. Did you ask Republic Roofing once why their attorney was let go by them and the case was closed? Of course not, that would make sense. Their attorney dismissed the case. HELLO BBB? They hired an attorney to collect the money, and their attorney dropped them? Do you know why? Because I asked them the same thing I am / and have asked you. Ask Republic Roofing to provide a line by line invoice of what was actually done, and then ask them to mail it to me and witness their response.
Their attorney dropped them, and do you know why? Because they could not produce it. And do you know why? Because Republic Roofing knows that if they produce that and send it to me, I can compare it to State Farm records, and I can prove they performed insurance fraud, and by sending it via ***** they will have committed a federal crime.
Are you at BBB that stupid, lazy, or just don't care about customers. I have proof via their attorney and their lack of a line by line invoice.
Oh my God, this was such a waste of my time. I have proof, they don't. I have sent you proof, they have not. What is wrong here????
I cannot believe I have believed in BBB all these years and this is the best you can do? You receive a response in words, and not proof, and you are satisfied? What in God's name is wrong with you? What is God's name is wrong with the BBB?
I am taking this to a local attorney, and you be my judge, I have copied every word you have sent, and I hope to receive justice and peace, no thanks to you, but I will be very certain to show them the response of Republic Roofing, and I certainly will show them your response.
I don't know what entity is more pathetic, the BBB or Republic Roofing. My attorney will be sure to see both responses.
Regards,

It is to our great disappointment that ************ chooses to insult and denigrate not only Republic Roofing but the BBB. The BBB can be a great forum to bring parties together and reach a mutual agreement to resolve a dispute. We have made every effort to engage in a meaningful dialog but to no avail. ************ seems more interested in projecting insults and foregoing contractual obligations. We remain open and willing to engage in a positive discussion with ************ to bring this matter to a conclusion. We have made our position clear in our earlier response and nothing material has changed. I do want to address one allegation that our attorney has dropped ** as a client. This is false and without merit. Our law firm has been and remains our legal counsel since the inception of the business.
