I wanted to share w you all so you do not use the same boarding place I did, to house our family member, ****** We dropped her off Monday morning b4 we heading to Alabama & she was "happy go lucky & in perfect health." We arrived at 10:45p and received a phone call * 11:10p that she was having labored breathing (that they just noticed). They told us when I scheduled her to be boarded that we couldn't pick her up until Sun (today) at 7am bc they don't have late hrs etc.. When we picked her up we noticed her breathing, she had lost close to 5lbs or more, and was lethargic.. we assumed it was her allergies& have her one of her allergy pills & tried to get her to eat or drink water but she didn't. We put her in bed w us & at 5:30a we noticed she was breathing more labored.. and couldn't stand. We called 2 different emergency vet's and they said 2hr-6hr waits.. so we gathered her up & heading that direction. ***** passed on the way there. 7mins from the emergency vet. The boarding places was called Just for Pets here in Floyds Knobs. I would've assumed, they had to notice her demeanor way b4 her breathing was an issue & weight loss (not eating or drinking). Our vacation was the best we've had in 5+yrs and now, devastation hit within 12hrs of arriving home.. Also, a lot of the food I sent came back with her. I’d also, like to know if there’s cameras there to see how she was & how they interacted with her.. i have a photo of her before she was taken in to their care & what she is now.Business response

As always, at Just for Pets we would have been happy to discuss or answer any questions if we had been contacted directly.
We are so very sorry to hear of *****’s passing but we are grateful she got to spend her final hours with her owners. *****’s mannerisms were normal all week, especially for a small senior dog weighing not more than 7 or 8 pounds like ****** ***** was sent with dry kibble and canned food. We fed ***** per her owners instructions. She did have some difficulty with dry kibble due to her lack of teeth but no issues with the canned food. She was never lethargic at anytime during her stay. We monitor all the dogs and if anything is ever out of the ordinary, we contact the owners. I am grateful one of our staff members noticed *****’s change in breathing as quickly as she did. She alerted us and we immediately came to the shop to assess the situation. We deemed it concerning enough to contact the owner despite the late time of night. *****’s breathing was the only sign that something was wrong. Other than her abnormal breathing, she was walking around the lobby and appeared happy to see the gentlemen that picked her up when he arrived. He did not seem upset with us and was not overly concerned about *****’s breathing. He stated that it was probably allergy related and would give her some allergy medication when he got home. No medication was sent with ***** during her stay at Just for Pets. As far as the comment on pick up times we do not have late hours but made an exception due to our concern for ******
