My daughter had all 4 wisdom teeth extracted, and 5 fillings placed, was placed on IV sedation, to have all the work done at one time. They made her sign a waiver to pay out of pocket for the IV sedation portion only, instead of submitting to our insurance, the date of service on the form was wrong. When I called to speak to ****, the office manager, she stated they bill it under a medical code, and dental will not cover it. I then asked to submit it to our medical and she said they could not do that because it was a dental procedure. She then stated that they don't like to bill to the insurance because they lose money with the write off. I then asked why would anyone agree to sign a form to pay out of pocket if they have insurance that covers, the patient loses money. (This was a ****** charge) She then stated my daughter didn't have to sign the form.....after talking to our insurance they stated they do indeed cover that IV sedation, and asked if I would like to have them call the office to talk with them. She then placed me on hold for approx **** min, returned and stated they were going to bill it to our insurance. I called **** back and she stated my daughter still signed the form, and it may still not be covered fully. I informed her it was the wrong date, she chuckled and stated she wasn't going to argue with me, and stated they will wait until the *** arrives. I spoke to her on Wednesday, the insurance postmark on the *** mailed was Friday and we received the *** by Monday. It was told this dentist was probably going to "double dip" and bill the insurance the actual date of service to get that portion, while my daughter paid out of pocket for services on a date she wasn't even there!!! Be careful with what you sign, and check the dates!! That date being wrong and my calling them out on it, was our only chance to get reimbursed!
