In spring of 2021, our orthodontist (**************) of several years retired and sold his practice to OMI. Our care (and our contract) was transferred to Dr. ********************** with OMI. We had several check *** of our daughter's progress prior to our scheduling of the braces installation. I was told while scheduling the appointment that I needed a down payment for the braces installation. No one has told me prior to the appointment that I would need another down payment. We had already paid half of our total treatment to ************* . With no down payment we were told our payments would be $400 per month. I told the nurse I could not afford those payments and needed to speak with my husband before committing to the treatment. She told me I needed to sign the contract to reserve her appointment for her braces. She said she would review the payments and if I could come up with a down payment prior to the appointment, they could change my payments. They also had not calculated the money we had already paid for years prior. I signed the contract to reserve her spot. Two days later, I cancelled the appointment until I could get a second opinion. They charged me $500 for the "appliance" that was made. No one can tell me what this appliance is, as there is no appliance for braces, only universal brackets. When I made the call to question this charge, they just kept saying "you signed the contract". I told them I would not be paying for a service that was not performed. They insisted I needed to pay for this "appliance". I told them they needed to send me this appliance since I was being charged for it. They said it no longer existed. This office has since sent us to collections, therefore damaging my excellent credit score.
