I took two letterman jackets to peerless cleaners and the leather sleeves on the one jacket was ruined. The white sleeves returned with a yellow tint and the material was peeling off. They are refusing to take responsibility for their negligent service and pay to replace the jacket. Im requesting that they pay for a new jacket and the cost of the dry cleaning for the one that was ruined.Business response

We are aware of the situation at hand. We followed the care label on that jacket. Unfortunately, it is a manufacturer defect. We talked to our leather partner out of *******, and they had stated the same thing is happening with the manufacturer. We do about 20-25 athletic coats a week with no other issues besides the newer ones with that same manufacturer. We do get a release on the athletic coats and leathers as well. We are willing to reimburse the cleaning cost of the coat, but they would need to go back to manufacturer for the cost of the coat that didn't hold up to the care label.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because:
The manufacturer cleaning instructions state: Take your letterman jacket to a professional cleaner if it is severely stained or in need of a deep cleaning. As a professional cleaning company, Peerless cleaners should be knowledgeable in properly cleaning a letterman jacket without causing damage to the jacket. If they were unable to properly clean this article or if they were having any issues, it is their responsibility to inform the customer. This did not occur. They accepted the jacket with the professional understanding that they would take care of the jacket without damage.
The white sleeves obviously had something sprayed on them that cause the material to turn yellow and peel off. The employee working at the time, made a comment about the company having issues with new employees at the location that does the cleaning. This comment makes it very probable that the new employees did not have proper training and their negligence caused damage to the jacket.
The manufacturer, the store where the jacket was purchased and the school of representation have not received any complaints or issues with the quality of the jackets being sold or purchased. This leads me to believe that the problem is not with the manufacturing but with the cleaning process.
My son has now been without his jacket for over a month. He earned this jacket with a lot of hard work and wore it proudly. He should not have to suffer simply because peerless cleaners refuses to admit they made a mistake and make it right. We simply want the jacket replaced and the cleaning cost reimbursed.

We clean ***** athletic coats a week with no issues. This is a defect of the manufacturer; all the jackets are cleaned the same way with no problems. The consumer did call our leather cleaner in *******, and they stated the same thing to the customer. The customer did sign a release in having the item cleaned. We offered to send to a laundry institution lab to determine what the problem is, but the customer did not want to go that route. We are sticking with the refund of the cleaning cost of this jacket.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because:
I NEVER signed anything when I dropped the jacket off to be cleaned. The leather company they are referring to did not tell me the same thing. They said they could not determine if anything was sprayed on the sleeves without seeing the jacket. I took the jacket back to the manufacturer to determine if that was the problem but they declared that the manufacturing was not the issue. I will not drop this complaint until Peerless Cleaners replaces the jacket. I will take this to small claims court if necessary. I would think the cleaning company would want to solve this matter with honor rather than create a negative public image. Im quite sure that they have insurance to replace articles that become damaged during the cleaning process.Business response
