I sadly needed a car due to mine having breakdowns. I resentfully traded it after months of issues (2017 Kia ********** I had no intent to buy, since that one was nearly paid off. I went to Evans on the way to visit friends in ***************. Here's the truth:1. The saleswoman (******) was less informed about cars than me. She also said, "I like to make sure everyone knows the real cost of the car is actually **** more. We require you buy an appearance package." I said many times I didn't want to pay the **** extra because I don't need it, but she wouldn't. Come to find, on the paperwork, it said OPTIONAL. I was flat out lied to. This is obviously a reccurring problem in many complaints on ************** The rest of the time, trying to negotiate, she said, "You'll have to talk to finance". It is the sales person's job to negotiate not finance. She played dumb every time and gave NO room to negotiate.2. I was handed to finance who also refused to negotiate, deceitfully charged **** on extra warranties, didn't show me paperwork, & undersold me on my trade in (which btw I was humble bcs I knew it had issues and they said, "We're taking a ******", but now they're VERY dishonestly selling it as if it's fine for *****! They cheated me & cheat the future buyer bcs the car isn't working well. I still have the **** maintenance ***************** I can see they did absolutely nothing to fix the transmission & other issues before reselling.)I was very frustrated after my monthly loan payments were $75 over the reasonable amount I wanted & they coerced me to put **** more down. I'm ashamed for their nontransparency. They didn't work one bit to help me get the loan to the amount I'd asked & could afford. Instead, it's 2.5 weeks hassling them. Supposedly they refunded the warranties I hadn't wanted, but it doesn't change that they cheated me out of $500 student graduate discount, lower payments & rate (I have a high credit score) & are overselling my old car.

Once I purchased the vehicle and received my paperwork in the mail, the total I put down compared to the total we discussed was not the same. I called the sales manager numerous times and eventually he stopped responding to me. Then, within the last year my trunk hasnt been closing properly. I called the dealership and even had them look at it in person. They told me my warranty doesnt cover that and I had driven all the way to *************** to a body shop (after they told me that specific dealership deals with warranties) just for them to end up telling me it wasnt covered under warranty. Supposedly the issue was my fault the brand new cars trunk didnt close all the way. After calling Toyota corporate numerous time, I was put in contact with a ************** who told me to contact my insurance. I used to absolutely love Toyotas, but after the treatment I received from the dealership and the corporate office, my husband and I dont think we want to ever purchase another Toyota vehicle.

We apologize and understand how this can be both confusing and frustrating. Based on the documentation from July of 2021 with 13,000 miles on the vehicle, was the first time the hatch was not sealing properly. After inspection from both our shop foreman and the body shop specialist, it was determined the reason the hatch did not shut properly was due to it being bent. Unfortunately, a manufacture warranty will cover only manufacture defects. Since it was determined the hatch was not defected, they suggested you contact your automotive insurance to see if it would be covered since it was damaged.

I found a car on their website that I wanted. Their website had a link for Toyota Smartpath so I filled out ************** and was approved. The approval spelled out, in writing, the price, taxes, fees, and terms of the loan. When I called the dealership to finalize the deal, I spoke with a salesman. When speaking to the salesman, he told me there would be an addition charge of $3995 for a paint/interior protection package. When I told him I did not want nor agree to that charge BEFORE my credit was run, he said it was not optional and it was mandatory for all new cars. He refused to remove the charge, so I had to go to another dealer and take another inquiry on my credit. Had I read their ****** reviews prior to submitting my credit app, I would have seen the exact same complaint from a customer in January 2022. Their business practices seem very shady and predatory to me! The ol' bait-and-switch. Beware if you are in the market for a new Toyota!

Evans Toyota apologizes for the confusion and frustration that this has caused you. Currently, Evans Toyota has a dealer add-on package that is $3995.00 that is added to the vehicles. This is disclosed to the customer prior to signing the final paperwork. In your case it sounds that this was explained prior to you coming into the dealership. Evans Toyota choose to include several items and attach an add-on price as opposed to marking the vehicle up reflect current market value. If you have other questions, please contact our store and as to speak to the General Manager.
