Vehicle was towed to business on 1-19-24 due to vehicle would not start. Business left a message 1-22-24 & stated vehicle was ready to be picked up. Returned the call next ************* stated message was an error, car needed additional work. Throttle body needed replaced & cost would be ~$600. Called for update on 1/24 & informed car still would not start: now wanted to run compression test. Company called 1/26 stated car should be ready soon but now was ~$1000. Discussed price discrepancy & the fact that I was being charged for a new throttle body when that ended up not being the issue. Company stated Well it was old. Received call 1/30 that vehicle could be picked up. Arrived at 4pm, paid $1060 for all charges. Got in my vehicle to leave and immediately almost wrecked into gas tank in parking lot. Power steering did not work. Went back inside & informed employee that car was NOT drivable & I almost wrecked. ****** stated oh, I thought you knew that & it was a preexisting issue. Worker then proceeded to state there must be a leak. Informed worker that this was never an issue prior to being towed. Again informed them I almost wrecked and could have been swriojdlt injured. They stated they could fix it for a ************* would be ~$800. When I again stated this was not a preexisting issue they then put car back on lift to fill power steering fluid & show me there must be a leak. No leak ended up showing! I informed them I would be taking my business elsewhere as they did not do what was requested- which was just to get the vehicle to start. Company replaced parts that did NOT need replaced and then told me I could BUY back the old parts. I feel I was taken advantage of & the service was unsatisfactory & possibly fraudulent as parts replaced that did not necessarily need replaced for car to function as requested.

      Good Morning!

Here are the notes from this recent interaction:

The customer's vehicle was towed in on the 19th. The vehicle was a no start condition. ************** found the throttle body had failed. The customer approved the throttle body replacement. After replacing the throttle body, the vehicle would only run on alternative fuel but would not run on the gas in the vehicle's fuel tank. The technician took a sample of the fuel, and it was contaminated. We received the approval from the customer to drain the fuel tank and put fresh fuel in the tank with a fuel cleaner / additive. Once the technician was finally able to start, run, and operate the vehicle on it's own fuel, he attempted to take the vehicle on a test drive. He noticed the vehicle didn't have working power steering. The tech then checked the power steering fluid level and it was empty. He added fluid and it was leaking out as fast as it went in. He inspected vehicle for the power steering leak. He found a seal on the rack and pinion is leaking and has evidence that it has been leaking for a while due to the amount of fluid around the area and the amount of debris stuck around the leaking area. At this point ******* took the vehicle on a test drive and noticed the vehicle does not go over 40 to 50 mph (possible restricted converter or transmission issue). The store manager called the customer and was explaining to her that the vehicle is starting and running now. We noticed that the vehicle does not go over 40 to 50 mph. The customer said the vehicle has been doing that since it's been cold and all her friends cars do it to, it's a temperature thing. The customer knew the vehicle has some other issues. So the store manager let the customer know the vehicle is ready and that she could pick it up.  The store manager notated all the issues we found on her invoice to cover ourselves in the event of an ongoing issue with this throughout the entire repair process. The customer picked up the vehicle and drove across the parking lot. She stopped the vehicle and came back to the store and said the vehicle's power steering wasn't working. The store manager explained the issue with her and she said the steering was working fine before we touched the vehicle. We apologized to her that there was an issue. We then explained the facts of the situation with us showing her and her boyfriend everything. We even offered to work with them to resolve the situation by replacing the rack and pinion at a discounted rate. She decided to take the vehicle as is. The store manager told her we would fill the power steering fluid in hopes it would help to get the vehicle home. As the technician was filling the power steering we noticed that the leak was slowing down as the vehicle warmed up. We told the customer that it is still leaking but has slowed down and we believe the seal has swelled with heat and will most likely get worse again once cold. The customer didn't seem to care and left with the vehicle.
