Good Morning, I would like to make a complaint again American Brake And Muffler. I took my 2017 **** Compass to be fixed September of 2022 due to a faulty engine. A new engine was replaced and mounted by American Brake and Muffler with the coverage of my warranty. It was explained to me that then that they had a hard time putting the new engine in, but that it was fixed. February 2023 the newly installed engine loosened and the lower mount had to be tightened by ********************* Service, as they were closes to the incident. Friday 03/31/23, the engine loosened again, this time causing more damage, I took my care to ********************* and they advised that the upper mount bolts were broken and this was definitely related to the original install of the engine. I had my car towed back to American Brake and Muffler due to warranty coverage and was told that the mount, timing cover, and front axal were all broken and would need to be replaced. The mechanic said that whoever installed the engine to begin with did something wrong, and I let him know that his shop installed it originally. At that point he recanted his statement of fault and told me that my total would be over $1,000 because it was not their issue and he was trying to be fair. I then spoke with the Manager ******** who basically apologized but told me that it wasnt their fault even thought they installed the engine and 2 mishaps have taken place every since. The mechanic spoke harshly to me, kept talking over me, was dishonest about fault and overall treated me terribly. This incident is at no fault to myself, as the engine was incorrectly placed back in September 2022 causing the ripple effect of mounts breaking. I would like them to take responsibility and fix my vehicle correctly. I have attached the report from the other shop. American Brake and Muffler is also charging way more than was originally quoted by *********************.Customer response

The customer's statements, with the exception of our shop installing a USED motor, per customer's extended warranty's direction, are false. We installed a USED engine in September of 2022. The vehicle was returned to our shop in April of 2023. The vehicle was diagnosed as needing motor mounts and an axle. ********* mounts and axle are not part of the engine replacement. They can not be installed in correctly, as the vehicle will not move if that were true. Customer needs more work and is not happy about it, which is understandable, but not to be confused with any mis-doings on our part. We offer nothing.
